Nexoserv launches in UK and Ireland

A new business is pioneering the use of serving and cleaning robots in helping hospitality businesses combat staffing shortages and rising costs.

Nexoserv says the technology improves customer experience, increases operational efficiency and provides a helping hand to a sector struggling against staffing shortages and inflationary challenges.

There are an estimated 150,000 robots deployed in service- led industries in the Far East; Nexoserv founder Daniel Howarth says he was inspired to bring robots to the UK after seeing the technology at work in Japan.

Daniel explained: “Even though robots are a common sight in restaurants out there, it’s still groundbreaking technology in the UK, and I can see no reason for it not to work over here. More businesses in the restaurant and hospitality sector are starting to work with us. Our customers really enjoy working alongside them and even give them names.”

Nexoserv is the official UK and Ireland partner for Keenon Robotics, and works with other leading manufacturers in the field.

Daniel continued: “All our robots come with LIDDOR and SLAM technology and dynamic obstacle avoidance, voice and message commands and our premium models now

have digital advertising screens and AI technology.”

Nexoserv already has over 150 robots deployed in the UK by clients including Hilton Hotels, Best Western Hotels, Tampopo at Manchester’s Trafford Centre and Housing Units in Oldham.

Daniel continued: “We follow a process identical for all customers to ensure we achieve the desired outcome – to successfully deploy our technology and be sure it adds value by improving the guest experience, operational efficiency and supporting the team whilst delivering a solid return on investment.

“Post-deployment, we focus on training the team to ensure they understand how to get the best use of the technology, alongside which we offer aftersales support and access to new software and firmware updates.”

Sodexo celebrates Long Service Awards

On 2 October Sodexo UK & Ireland welcomed over 300 colleagues celebrating 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years’ service to Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground for a special dinner in recognition of their hard work and loyalty to the company.

Over 600 Sodexo colleagues hit their career milestone with Sodexo in 2024 and 2025, with the largest cohort celebrating 20 years of service with the company. For others it has been longer, around 100 at 30 years, 25 celebrating 40 and three reaching half a century.

Jean Renton, CEO, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “This commitment and longevity is exactly what our founder, Pierre Bellon, envisioned – a company where people can grow, flourish and find personal fulfilment. The real success of Sodexo is not in its size or reach, but in the opportunities it creates for people to find pride in their work, and to be motivated to make a positive difference. It’s important to me that personal contributions are recognised and celebrated – and I thank and congratulate every single colleague who has hit a long service milestone with Sodexo.”

The guests were treated to hospitality from the Sodexo Live! team at Emirates Old Trafford, with executive chef

Andy Hare and his team curating a three-course meal.

Bill Buchan, HR Director, Sodexo UK & Ireland, added: “Every milestone being honoured at our Long Service Awards represents commitment, resilience and passion for what we do, and it is wonderful to hear their stories from over the years at this special event. Our success is from our people delivering excellence every day and we thank them.”

For Sodexo, its 30,000+ employees are the beating heart of its business, which is why it invests in rewarding and recognising their achievements through a range of activities and events. The Long Service Awards are one of the highlights of this programme, which also includes the company’s annual Spirit of Sodexo Awards, which recognise colleagues who bring to life its values and are making a difference every day.
