RADA appoints The Clean Space

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), one of the UK’s most prestigious and historic drama schools, has appointed The Clean Space as its new cleaning partner across both RADA and RADA Business buildings.

The contract covers a wide variety of facilities, from rehearsal studios and technical workshops to public performance venues and administrative spaces.

With over 20 years’ experience delivering ethical, high- quality cleaning services across education, healthcare, commercial and cultural sectors, The Clean Space is well placed to support RADA’s diverse and dynamic estate. The service will be tailored to RADA’s unique requirements, with site-specific plans aligned to rehearsal timetables, academic schedules and specialist floorcare needs. Low- moisture and noise-reducing equipment will also be used to protect the Academy’s high-spec and sprung floors.

RADA will further benefit from The Clean Space’s suite of digital auditing and monitoring tools, including iAuditor, Taqt and Flexicount – enabling real-time quality checks and usage-based optimisation.

OCS publishes new ESG Impact Report

OCS has published its UK & Ireland ESG Impact Report, building on the progress made in social value creation, environmental performance and governance standards.

The report underscores OCS’s commitment to doing business responsibly while delivering measurable impact for colleagues, customers and communities.

The report highlights that in 2024, OCS supported 378 individuals into employment through its People into Work programme and delivered 564 active apprenticeships, reinforcing its mission to create inclusive pathways into employment. Community engagement also grew, with OCS colleagues raising over £143,000 for charities and contributing 1,072 volunteering hours across the UK and Ireland.

The Clean Space brings particular expertise working with education and cultural institutions, where technical precision and sensitivity to public interaction are paramount. Its client base includes the AA School of Architecture, Francis Holland Schools Trust, The Old Vic, The Bridge Theatre and the Institute of Contemporary Arts.

George Mills, Estates Manager at RADA, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Clean Space as our new cleaning partner. Their deep understanding of educational and performance environments, along with their proven track record in similar institutions, makes them the ideal choice for RADA. We look forward to working together to ensure our spaces remain safe, clean and inspiring for students, staff and visitors alike.”

Wesley Smith, Sales & Marketing Director at The Clean Space, added: “Our team is committed to supporting RADA’s operational and creative priorities with a service that reflects its world-class reputation. Through innovation, discretion and attention to detail, we will ensure RADA’s facilities continue to provide the very best environment for learning, rehearsal and performance.”

Environmental performance remained a key focus, with 92% of electricity procured from renewable sources and 99% of waste diverted from landfill. OCS also continued its transition to a low-emission fleet and invested in energy efficiency measures across its operations. Governance improvements included strengthened anti-bribery measures, ISO 27001 certification for information security and enhanced modern slavery risk assessments across the supply chain.

The findings come at a time when ESG performance is under increasing scrutiny from investors, customers and regulators. Across industries, there’s growing pressure for businesses to demonstrate not just intent, but measurable progress on sustainability and social value. Regulatory frameworks such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the UK’s evolving climate disclosure requirements are raising the bar for transparency, while stakeholder demands and the need for risk mitigation are making ESG credentials increasingly weighted in the procurement process.

Jacky So, Sustainability Director at OCS UK & Ireland, said: “ESG is no longer a ‘nice to have’. Stakeholders expect transparency, measurable targets and tangible social impact. We’re seeing a clear trend: organisations that embed ESG into their core strategy are outperforming on resilience, reputation and long-term value creation. This isn’t just about compliance – it’s about competitive advantage. Companies that fail to act risk losing trust, talent and market share.”
