PAPER & DISPOSABLES
Today’s washroom dispensers are increasingly being manufactured to be long-lasting and durable in a bid to reduce their carbon footprint. At Essity, we have taken this ethos a step further and have offset the carbon emissions of some of our core washroom dispensers.
We now use certified renewable electricity during the production of many of our dispensers, and we offset the remaining carbon emissions by means of investments in certified climate projects with verified organisation ClimatePartner. These projects include the supply of clean drinking water to Cambodia; the provision of energy-efficient cooking stoves to India and the undertaking of forest- protection activities in Indonesia. A total of 27 Tork washroom dispensers have now been certified as carbon neutral.
34 | TOMORROW'S CLEANING
Today 90% of Tork packaging is made from renewable resources such as recyclable paper or cardboard, and our empty soap cartridges are collapsible to minimise the volume of waste they create.
Employers are finding it difficult to tempt people back to the office after many of them have become accustomed to working from home. Our poll makes it clear that some staff members are less than impressed with the sustainability credentials of their workplaces.
So, it makes sense for companies to strive to meet the high expectations of their workforce by reducing the amount of waste created from disposables on the office floor, in the kitchen – and in the washroom.
