Diversey explores the hygiene performance of their disposable microfibre against that of comparable reusable systems.

Microfibre is increasingly popular in sectors such as healthcare, where it offers a unique combination of superior hygiene, improved productivity and enhanced ergonomics compared to alternative daily cleaning methods.

To take full advantage of these benefits, conventional microfibre must be cared for throughout its working life in line with manufacturers’ recommendations using an on- premises laundry or specialist service providers. This can add complexity, burden and cost to the cleaning and hygiene function.

Moreover, in the most critical applications, such as intensive care units, infection prevention teams want to limit the risk of cross contamination – however small – by avoiding repeat use of their daily hygiene tools.

The TASKISUM range from Diversey comprises single use microfibre cloths and mops that remove dirt, dust and over 99% of bacteria from hard surfaces.

Conceived as one of the first disposable alternatives with comparable performance to conventional microfibre, they are designed for healthcare and other high-hygiene settings where users want to maintain extremely high daily cleaning standards with minimal risk of cross-contamination. They are also ideal when conventional microfibre management and laundry processes are impractical, uneconomic or undesirable.

TASKISUM mops and cloths remove these limitations but deliver comparable cleaning performances to conventional microfibre tools in a convenient format. The unique capabilities of microfibre can remove soiling and contamination from hard surfaces through a combination of static and, when used wetted, capillary attraction.

The cloths are manufactured using the same process as reusable microfibre. These cloths have a dense cellulosic core into which polyester and polyamide microfibres are stitched.

This allows them to hold and distribute more liquid than a typical disposable.

Each cloth can clean one bed area in high-hygiene environments while the mops clean up to 20m² in a single use. This performance is similar to reusable microfibre and one of the highest amongst single-use alternatives. The cloths can clean up to twice as much area as conventional wipes.

The extremely fine fibres in the cloth easily penetrate the surface at a finer level than normal materials, removing higher levels of dirt and grease. The polyester scrubs and cleans the surface while the polyamide provides the absorbent quality. By applying surface friction, particles of dust and dirt are attracted to and trapped by the individual fibres.

Like other microfibre systems TASKISUM can be used dry or wet. TASKI pre-wetted microfibre systems can improve productivity by more than 24% compared to conventional cleaning systems. Using pre-wetted methods means there are no heavy buckets to fill or empty, which improves ergonomic efficiency and boosts productivity to release time for other value-added tasks and reduce total labour costs.

The cloths and mops can be used with existing equipment including

the TASKI Jonmaster handle and frame and the advanced TASKI Trolley system. This means users can deploy the tools on their own or to complement existing products and processes with minimal additional investment.

They are manufactured from the highest quality 100% microfibre. This ensures they feel more comfortable in hand than ordinary disposable wipes which typically contain little or no microfibre.

Disposable microfibre avoids the need for an on-site laundry or the strict rotation policies that prolong the life of conventional multi-use systems. This means that users can introduce microfibre cleaning into their cleaning routines with fewer changes to ongoing processes. It also allows microfibre to be deployed easily and cost effectively to complement or supplement existing cleaning regimes without significant investment.

TASKISUM builds on Diversey’s extensive experience with developing and implementing integrated microfibre solutions for demanding applications. It complements existing Diversey microfibre ranges including TASKI Jonmaster, TASKI Standard and TASKI Quantum.
