Tomorrow’s Cleaning Editor Martin Wharmby speaks with Mark Bresnihan, CEO of ICE, about the company’s recent acquisitions.

and will operate on a regional basis in terms of engineering, training and scheduling. This means that we can drive quality and improvements, all underpinned by our drive to deliver excellent customer experience.

CES is a very niche business, and its customers, culture, people and strategy fits perfectly with the ethos of ICE. By bringing the two organisations together it has meant that CES has the entire ICE business model and infrastructure at its finger tips.

We have streamlined the various brands across the group to bring everything together under the following divisions:

The news broke in late 2017 that ICE Group had acquired the Reintec and TecServ businesses, a huge move that followed on from their previous acquisition of Cleaning Equipment Supplies (CES) Ltd in late 2016.

This rapid expansion has led to ICE fully integrating all three businesses into their group, and led to the launching of four new ICE Brands to replace the Reintec, TecServ, CES and Simplify Rental brands. With 65 engineers spanning the UK and Ireland, managing over 24,500 sites and 140,200 machines, ICE has one of the largest service infrastructures in the country.

We had to the chance to chat with ICE CEO Mark Bresnihan about the acquisitions:

Tomorrow’s Cleaning: What can each of the acquired businesses bring to ICE’s market proposition, and how are they being integrated?

Mark Bresnihan: Bringing Reintec and TecServ into the ICE Group means that we now have a truly national service infrastructure and can therefore be more flexible and agile in our offering. The business is now much less ‘Southampton centric’

ICE Direct ICE Direct ‘Approved Solutions’ brings fully refurbished equipment direct to the customer at highly competitive rates. It’s great for companies winning short to medium term contracts that don’t have the budget for new machines and compliments our approach and commitment to our ISO and green initiatives in terms of recycling.

The buying back of customers’ assets has become a key part of ICE’s business model for some time now, and whilst we refurbish and resell most manufacturers’ machines, we have also set up a trade counter.

It’s clear that expansion plans for ICE are ambitious; can you share with us your vision for ICE’s growth as a business?

As part of our commitment to existing and new customers, our pledge to continuously improve and innovate our offer is an integral part of our strategy and a very important one.

“We remain focussed on customer care and service, and we will

continuously improve and innovate.”

If I look back in the last 10 years and revisit the key aspects of how things have changed, it’s something we are extremely proud of and something that takes constant drive and invention to continue to modernise and differentiate.

Technological advances stay at the forefront of our approach. We also continuously look at our product range, and the benefits and opportunities they offer our customers, in order to be able to fulfil a complete solution.

Our vision is to offer a same day solution for delivery, hire, service and parts. We will retain an independent customer-centric approach, and we will continue to embrace technology to support our customers and people.

We will continue to evolve and change in line with market conditions and customer requirements. We remain focussed on customer care and service, and we will continuously improve and innovate.

What challenges have you faced adjusting to the expansion of the business?

The businesses we have acquired were all culturally similar which is helpful, and we were very clear
