LEVELLING COMPOUNDS | FLOWCRETE

STEP INTO THE FLOORZONE

Resin flooring manufacturer Flowcrete has developed a technology which combines resin finishes with high-performance screeds and underfloor heating systems to create a safe, efficient and stylish flooring solution.

Flowcrete UK’s unique Floorzone concept combines seamless, easy-to-clean resin finishes with high-performance screeds and efficient underfloor heating systems to deliver a range of aesthetic, functional, environmental and economic advantages.

The specification process can be a tricky task, especially for complex infrastructure developments in the manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, food and drink, and electronic sectors. Heavy impacts, harsh chemicals, forklift trucks and industrial equipment can all take a punishing toll on the floor area.

The Floorzone has been designed to simplify the process of choosing solutions that are up to the task, as every element of the floor build-up, from the substrate to the finish, can be sourced from one supplier and is under one warranty.

The industrial Floorzone partners a heavy-duty screed with a robust, multi-functional finish to ensure that it will be able to provide a reliable, effective surface for the long-term. Additional flooring assets, such as slip resistance, electro-static dissipation and surface regularity, can be easily built into an industrial Floorzone to ensure that the floor enhances the working environment as much as possible.

The variety of systems and the different combinations, effects and outcomes that can be created means that this simple specification solution can be utilised to create high-quality floor areas tailored to the precise functional, aesthetic, budgetary and construction requirements of each site.

The Floorzone offers compelling environmental and economic benefits, for example the Isowarm underfloor heating system delivers energy savings of up to 25% compared to conventional heating methods.

Flowcrete UK has analysed the entire production, transportation and installation process through a green lens in order to ensure that developments using the Floorzone improve the ecological credentials of the flooring project. As part of this, toxic substances have been removed from the manufacturing process and reusable IBCs are used to minimise the amount of packaging waste. The reduced labour costs and faster installation times that are possible with the Floorzone also help to limit the floor’s environmental impact while aiding the overall building programme.

Alan Dean, Sales Director of Flowcrete, said: “Our Floorzone system means that specifiers can achieve a high acoustic performance and be supplied with a time-proven screed and ultra-efficient underfloor heating, along with a decorative floor finish from Flowcrete’s extensive range – all under a single-source warranty.

“It offers a number of green benefits, as all the products arrive on site from one source and the number of contractor visits that are required is reduced as well.”

The resin systems included within the Floorzone are broken down into decorative epoxy, fast-curing methyl methacrylate (MMA) and hard-wearing polyurethane coatings. These finishes can be combined with the Isocrete Green Screeds range, which utilises recycled materials to enhance a building’s ecological credentials.

The Isocrete Floor Screeds range includes Isocrete Fast K, which is ideal for fast-track construction projects, as well as the modified granolithic wearing screeds Isogran and Isopol which are designed for heavy-duty areas in buildings such as workshops, plant rooms, hospitals or store rooms.

Self Level Renovation can be laid over existing floor finishes to provide a strong, fast-drying and self-levelling base for floor coverings such as tiles, carpet or cork, while Isocrete 1500 offers a fast-drying cement based underlayment which can receive foot traffic within four hours.

Designed to create level, long-lasting screeds, these systems can incorporate Isowarm underfloor heating and Isocrete Acoustic K Insulation to provide ultra-efficient temperature control while simultaneously reducing noise transfer around the building.

For sites that need the sturdiest screed solution, Flowcrete UK’s Isocrete K-Screed has been formulated to rapidly create a robust layer that can be combined with bolt-on flooring components and be topped by a variety of finishes.

Termed the ‘king of screeds’, Isocrete K-Screed is the most

commonly specified product in the range. It speeds up programme times, allowing for earlier foot traffic, which means that follow on trades can access the site sooner than usual.

Isocrete K-Screed enables the early installation of sensitive finishes, while its low shrinkage formulation minimises the risk of cracking. It has high abrasion qualities, offering excellent impact- resistance; qualities that have maintained its position as the architects’ product of choice over the decades.

Other products available include damp proof membranes (Hydraseal DPM or Aqualock OneCoat), bonding agents (M-Bond and M-Bond Extra) and penetrating hardening systems (PHS) that are used to solve excessive relative humidity and to restore the surface of defective screeds.
