ADHESIVES & GROUTS | UZIN

HARDER, BETTER, FASTER, STRONGER

Floorcoverings and solutions manufacturer UZIN has launched UZIN NC 163, a new water-mix smoothing compound which can be used without a primer. Together with UZIN L3 Gold, UZIN now has a product offering that is ideal for renovation projects.

There has long been a misconception that only a lower strength bag and bottle product can be used to overlay old adhesive residues. With many resilient floorcovering manufacturers requiring at least a 25 N compressive strength smoothing compound, there continues to be a flaw in many installations. Lower strength smoothing compounds are susceptible to indentations that will mirror in the floorcovering, especially if there is heavy traffic and trolley transportation. So, what should be used? Products such as UZIN L3 Gold or UZIN NC 163 are suitable.

UZIN NC 163 is a new and innovative smoothing compound which is designed to be used on renovation projects, saving you time and money. It can be used without priming on most common substrates, such as concrete and cement, as well as over old waterproof adhesive residues, such as bitumen, if hard, sound and well-bonded to the substrate. This is due to its extremely high flexural strength of 10 N. It also has a compressive strength of 30 N making it ideal for use in commercial areas. It is ready to receive foot traffic after 2½ hours and most floorcoverings can be installed within 20 hours. It is easy to sand-down and flows exceptionally well.

UZIN L3 Gold smoothing compound is extremely quick-setting and floorcoverings can be installed after only two hours. It is ideal for use in refurbishment projects as it can also be applied over old waterproof adhesive residues if hard, sound and well-bonded to the substrate. It can be used without a primer in most cases and has a high compressive strength of 25 N. It can also be used under a damp-proof membrane (DPM), is easy to sand-down and flows exceptionally well.

THE INNOVATIVE WATER MIX: UZIN NC 163 A renovation smoothing compound for use over old waterproof adhesive residues as well as cementitious substrates. In most cases it can be used without a primer on most sound and well- bonded waterproof adhesive residues, saving time and money.

THE TRADITIONAL 'BAG & BOTTLE': UZIN L3 GOLD The new solution has a high compressive strength of 25N and flexural strength of 7N. Its new recyclable packaging means it is much better for the environment. The product is extremely fast- drying and most floorcoverings can be installed within two hours. It also provides a more durable surface for floorcoverings compared to lower strength bag and bottle products.

Applications: • Suitable for use in sensitive environments such as schools and hospitals

• The repair and renovation of uneven floors • For blinding old adhesive residues

Benefits: • Suitable for use over old, sound, waterproof adhesive residues, even Bitumen if well bonded to the substrate

• Can be used without a primer in most cases

• Ammonia and latex free • Very low stress • Can be used under a DPM

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY The ammonia and latex free characteristics of UZIN’s flooring compounds have now been complemented with new recyclable packaging, which finishes off the set of credentials for specificiers looking for a responsible solution.

The environment is one of the most important issues facing the construction industry and consumers require materials which are recyclable, sustainable and do not pollute the air with odours and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). UZIN has therefore innovated Cube It Simple recyclable packaging, an ecological solution to help tackle the increasing demands of sustainability. The cardboard packaging is an alternative to plastic buckets and is considerably better for the environment.

The new packaging is much more energy efficient and the weight per unit has decreased, meaning that more units can also be put on a pallet. Transportation is therefore reduced and less CO2

discharged.

There is now also 85% less waste produced by the new packaging process. Only the liner is made from plastic, which can be returned and disposed of. The box is made from recycled cardboard which can be recycled. This also saves floor contractors the hassle of disposing large amounts of plastic containers.

The environment is at the centre of UZIN’S corporate philosophy and they take their responsibility very seriously.
