HARRIS RETIRES Well-known flooring industry figure and Marketing Manager of F. Ball and Co. Ltd. for 20 years, Richard Harris retired from the company at the end of June.

ACQUIRE NORA SYSTEMS Interface, Inc. (Nasdaq: TILE), a leading global commercial flooring company and a leader in sustainability, has announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire nora systems in a stock purchase transaction valued at approximately $420m.


Nora, a global leader in performance flooring and worldwide share leader in the rubber flooring category, is a privately held company that is majority owned by investment firm Intermediate Capital Group (ICG). Nora’s annual revenues are approximately $280m. Interface expects to close the transaction during the third quarter of 2018, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

Nora is the leader in the nearly $1bn rubber flooring category of the $34bn global commercial flooring industry. Nora is considered a leading premium brand and has built a specified selling organisation that provides reach into approximately 80 countries around the world.

Prior to joining F. Ball, Richard worked in a number of marketing and sales roles in the paints and adhesives industries, after starting his marketing career as a Marketing Assistant for a paper manufacturer.


Throughout his time promoting the performance benefits of trade products to industry professionals, Richard has benefited from a strong technical background, having obtained a degree in chemistry from the University of Bristol.


Opting for a career in marketing, rather than a more vocational option, Richard honed his marketing skills over the next 18 years, before bringing his experience and expertise to F. Ball in 1998.


Commenting on his time at the company, Richard said: “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I started at F. Ball; it’s just flown by. Looking back, though, the company has moved on an incredible amount since I first started and it’s been a fantastic opportunity to market the company and its products during this time. We’ve seen some great developments introduced over the years that have been a gift for a marketer to work with; as well as the investment that has been made in the manufacturing and training facilities.
