Innovation and Tradition From Ceramiche Caesar

Clerkenwell Design Week clearly confirmed how the British public loves the ceramic ideas and solutions of Ceramiche Caesar. This year's festival, dedicated to the latest trends in interior design and architecture, is the third consecutive edition the company has taken part. Ceramiche Caesar, based in Fiorano Modenese, was delighted with the results of the three-day event during which Urban Lab – the company's showroom at 17/18 Great Sutton Street – opened its doors to a large number of architects, journalists, designers and students.

From 22nd to 24th May, the Urban Lab showroom became a meeting point for sector professionals intent on learning more about a dynamic company that always keeps pace with the latest design trends. By combining innovation in the field of ceramic manufacturing with a clear vocation for fashion, technology and art, Ceramiche Caesar offered visitors a rich programme of cutting-edge design and original entertainment.

The programme's underlying theme was the history of Ceramiche Caesar, which is now celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. Clerkenwell Design Week provided the perfect opportunity for the company to tell its story through the iconic products, styles and fashions that have marked its progress to the present day.

Presentations of the latest Evood and Arthis collections, original expressions of Caesar's ability to elevate the working

of precious woods to an art form, and of the Built and Autore collections, two of the most celebrated solutions at Cersaie 2017, were followed by events linking past and future in a contemporary key. These included three live street-dance performances by the B-Boy group Raincrew who brought to life the last three decades with performances to the soundtrack of hit songs from each period.

Urban Lab, at 17/18 Great Sutton Street, Clerkenwell, London, is open from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.

Internationally acclaimed artist Liz Atkin presented an abridged version of her Ted Talk on how she confronts her complex compulsive condition through art, followed by a graffiti workshop ‘drawing as a tool to relax the mind’.

Award-winning writer, journalist, teacher and writing mentor Elaine Kingett ran mindful writing workshops. Mindful writing can help free the imagination and clear creative blocks. Participants can learn how to apply mindfulness to the process of writing through exercises and practices and see their writing emerge.

Milliken Showroom Becomes A Wellness Zone

In recognition of Milliken becoming a founding member of the Well Living Lab the flooring designer and manufacturer’s stunning Berry Street showroom became a ‘wellness zone’ during Clerkenwell Design Week.

For the opening night there was a panel debate: The Future is Well chaired by Jeremy Myerson (Director of WORKTECH and Chair of Design at RCA Helen Hamlyn Research Centre). The panellists were Ann Marie Aguilar (Director of Operations, WELL Building Institute), Ali Ganjavian (Co-Founder, Studio Banana), Glenn Elliott (author of ‘Build It: The Rebel Playbook for Employee Engagement’) and Joyce Chan (Head of Sustainability, HOK).
