a unique scheme at an award-winning digital agency.
As a forward-thinking digital company specialising in business transformation, The BIO Agency’s London office needed to reflect the creativity and innovation that the brand is renowned for across the UK and North America.
With the agency taking a hands-on approach to the design process, the new office of the company’s CEO was created with a brief that ensured both impactful and inspired design. Instead of employing an interior designer or architecture agency for the renovation of the office, the team took the project in-house and worked directly with chosen suppliers to realise their unique vision.
As a result of the particularly close working relationship with Havwoods, The BIO Agency opted for a bold material choice to cover both the floors and walls of the office, forming the basis of the entire design scheme.
Considering the industrial setting and importance of raw materials, The BIO Agency chose the statement aesthetic of Havwoods’ Oak Sandford planks, which were installed not only across the floor but also onto the wall to provide intriguing visual impact.
Embracing colour and texture, the Sandford engineered planks evoke the character of reclaimed flooring, with subtle distressing and bold colour application combined within the highly practical construction. Embracing signature distressed qualities usually found in authentically aged wood, the multi- tonal planks of Sandford reveal a distinctive brushed finish, protected with UV oil to ensure a robust surface that not only looks the part but also is incredibly durable.
Elements of rich, dark wood are provided as a contrast to bright tones of white and primary shades of vivid red and blue, with a faded finish celebrated throughout to ensure the exquisite natural beauty of the wood remains ever-present. During the installation process, the Sandford planks were applied at random to the floor and vast expanse of wall adjacent to the desk area to create a linear pattern that runs continuously across the two surfaces in a single, statement direction.
Designed to introduce an aspect of playful sophistication within the distinctly urban environment, the comprehensive redesign establishes an office for The BIO Agency’s CEO that celebrates the company’s individual style and sets itself apart from traditional white box office blocks. Complemented by simple, mid-century style furniture pieces in retro primary colours and a view of the city skyline, The BIO Agency’s office is transformed with an abundance of creativity and character.
