EDITOR’S VOICE TCF CONTACTS EDITORIAL

Welcome to the July 2018 issue of Tomorrow’s Contract Floors,

With just under nine months to go until we officially leave Europe, the subject on everyone’s minds is how it will affect the flooring industry. This is a conundrum that was put to Gavin Whiley, MD of Havwoods Accessories Ltd in our regular 10

Questions feature this month. Gavin‘s response was that he sees this as a perfect opportunity to take on more apprentices and export our products internationally.

This makes perfect sense but with several uncertainty surrounding Brexit and a lack of confidence in the UK economy, more and more clients are choosing to renovate rather than replace their existing floors.

AMA Research’s recent market report on page 37 highlights the fact that the

UK refurbishment and fit-out sector increased by 6% last year and continues to increase steadily in both the public and private sectors.

The industry has responded by offering increasingly sustainable products and maintenance solutions. In our feature on Resins and Screeds, Martin Wroe of

Sherwin Williams discusses why more developments are turning to terrazzo as a sustainable and cost-effective solution.

Also, in our Clerkenwell Design Week review we hear from Bona who wowed interior designers and architects at the design festival with their Inspiration floor styling system which encourages clients to upcycle their existing wood floors.

I hope you enjoy the issue!
