I’ll all end in Tiers, as one newspaper eloquently put it earlier this year. Emerging from various new lockdowns, the UK is a fractious mess of tiering systems and
unclear rules, which are bound to be widely flouted even before we get to the ‘five-day amnesty’ around Christmas. It almost doesn’t matter what Tier we end up in: we’re all sick of the mixed messages, the mealy-mouthed backtracking and cross-talking
about the rules. It’s nigh-on impossible to keep track of what’s happening and where, what you can and can’t do.
It’s no wonder so many people just want to go to the pub for a pint and forget about it all now, even if they have to wash said pint down with a scotch egg. Talk of potential vaccines coming in the next few months is only going to exacerbate things, as more and more people assume this means we can go straight back to life before the virus.
It all adds to the fact that Winter’s going to be a rough one this year, but as ever, it’s the cleaning and hygiene industry that keeps thing going. It will be more important than ever that cleaning operatives are able to work to keep everywhere clean
and hygienic, as safety becomes a primary concern with COVID-19 numbers still dangerously high.
In this month’s issue of Tomorrow’s Cleaning, we hear from two of Cole & Wilson’s clients about how the ‘staycation’ boom has affected their laundry needs, while ICE inform us
about the growing importance of automated cleaning, and Paul at Rubbermaid discusses commercial recycling in a year dominated by the Coronavirus.
We’ve also got features from the likes of Robert Scott, who share some cleaning
insights for the hospitality sector, Stuart from Essity reminds us why it’s going to be vital that we all adhere to cleaning and hand hygiene regimes over the festive period,
