The Nilfisk Way

Can you imagine a time when carpets and upholstery had to have the dust beaten out of them? That was the reality and for many the process of cleaning was long, laborious and very hard work. Fortunately that was set to change.

One man who made a big difference was Mr P.A Fisker who trained as an electrical engineer, he founded the Nilfisk Company in 1906. Originally he produced motors to drive coffee grinders, machine tools, fans and drills but even then his vision was for an international Company.

The breakthrough came when he invented the Nilfisk C1, a vacuum cleaner that could be operated by one person and weighed in at only 17.5 kilos.

Growth was steady until the late 1980’s when the Company became part of the NKT Group. The Group went on to acquire Advance, ALTO,

The Nilfisk-Advance Group now has 46 sales companies across the globe with manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe and North America. Products are sold under a wide range of brands including Nilfisk, Nilfisk-ALTO and Nilfisk-CFM. The product range is primarily focused on the commercial cleaning sector which includes professional contract cleaners as well as institutional and industrial customers.

The Company prides itself on offering solutions to meet the challenges of cleaning professionals world-wide; developing sustainable products using green technologies with a clear environmental focus.

Nilfisk has been established in Ireland since 1957 and developed a strong consumer brand with vacuums like the GM70, GM80 and GM90. In fact during the 1980’s Nilfisk became

a household name with many consumers referring to all vacuums as a ‘Nilfisk.’

David Jordan,

In the 1980’s the focus shifted to the sale of industrial cleaning machines and service to commercial and industrial customers. Strategic developments in 1997 saw independent distributors appointed throughout the country and the Nilfisk network that we see today was born.

Nilfisks’ long established man in Ireland is David Jordan, a family man from Trim, Co. Meath. David joined the Nilfisk organisation over 10 years ago after a career in the Packaging industry. David personally manages all national account clients with service support provided by authorised distributors.
