Roll-out In early 2011, the team responsible for the roll-out attended cluster meetings with staff around the country and presented the new system to Plant Managers, Area Managers and Delivery Service Managers. This provided an opportunity to introduce and explain the products face to face.
Prior to going live with the project, Bunzl visited and audited over 200 sites company wide
Over 2,000 new soap and toilet roll dispensers were fitted during a three week period in early March and out of date stock was removed from cleaning store rooms.

Results For the full year of 2012, 1,252 units of concentrated chemical was issued.
• 1,252 1.5Ltr bottles, in comparison to the same product in RTU, which is equivalent to 238,476 bottles packed in 39,766 cases.
• 30 pallets, the equivalent to just over one and half lorries, in comparison to the same product in RTU, which would be equivalent to 417 pallets, which would fill 20 lorries.
Using the product gives automatic and consistent dilution ensuring hygiene standards, maximises productivity and guarantees efficient usage. Also accurate dilution means water usage is minimised.

• 477kg of plastic in concentrate, compared to 17,647kg of plastic in RTU format.
• 179kg of cardboard used, compared to 9,539kg in RTU cardboard.
• The new paper products are certified with the prestigious EU flower.
Because of the nature of the packaging An Post brings significantly less product wrapping into the waste management stream.
One of the many benefits is that J-Flex is formulated to be just as effective in cold water, so there are financial and environmental savings in energy too. Concentrated formulation reduces the environmental impact due to manufacture, transportation, storage, use and disposal of the product and packaging.

Summary An Post worked closely with their partners, Bunzl, using their expertise in the cleaning industry to dramatically change the company cleaning system – moving from dozens of branded RTUs, to super concentrates and the J-FLex system.
With the experience An Post developed in-house, the team are now working with Bunzl to improve their cleaning regime and to identify new products as they come to market.
