New Heating Circulation Thermostat Announced
With the new Chili, Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau AG presents a compact, low volume, hydraulically sealed heating thermostat for use with closed temperature control circuits. Part of the Unistat product family, the Chili is the smallest heating thermostat in the Huber range and is appropriate for use with Marlotherm as a heat transfer fl uid. The device has a working temperature range of 65 to 300°C and achieves a temperature stability of +/-0.02 K. Measuring just 240 x 427 x 393 mm (W x D x H), only a small space for installation is required. It is small enough to be a direct replacement for existing ‘open-bath’ heaters. Due to its technical characteristics and competitive pricing, the Chili is ideally suited for e.g. distillation tasks in chemistry, pharmaceuticals and botanical extraction. The hydraulically sealed temperature control circuit prevents the formation of oil vapours and oxidation. This results in an increased lifespan of the heat transfer fl uid adding further value. An external cooling coil (unregulated) is available as an optional accessory.
As with all Unistats, the new Chili impresses with excellent thermodynamic characteristics and a professional range of functions. The Chili guarantees high-precision, reproducible thermoregulation results with reduced heating times and wide temperature ranges. Effi cient energy management minimises operating costs and economic operation.
The Pilot ONE multi-touch controller has a 5.7” touchscreen display with intuitive, icon based menu navigation. Important functions and settings are accessible in a fast and simple manner thanks to the user-creatable favourites menu. Integrated USB and Ethernet ports enable connection to a PC or network for remote control, monitoring and data recording.

Effi cient Temperature Control System for Laboratory Applications
The Petite Fleur models are the smallest dynamic temperature control systems in the Unistat range. They are designed for highly accurate temperature control of small research reactors. As all Unistats, the Petite Fleur models have unique thermodynamic properties. Recent comparative studies show that the Petite Fleur is currently the most effi cient temperature control system of its class. In most cases, it cools and heats signifi cantly faster than comparable competitor models. The differences in the housing volume are likewise impressive: in direct comparison, the housing of the Petite Fleur is up to 50% smaller. Go to
www.huber-online.com to see case studies with different reactor systems.
The Petite Fleur models reach operating temperatures of -40°C to +200°C and offer a refrigeration capacity of 480 W (with full pump capacity acc. to DIN 12876). With a capacity of up to 25 l/min, the circulation pump provides for optimum heat transmission. Delicate glass reactors are protected from damage with the soft start-up, and changes in the viscosity within the fl uid circuit are compensated for. The Petite Fleurs furthermore comprise the touchscreen controller Pilot ONE with its large 5.7“ colour display, USB and network connections, programmer, calendar / timer function, and clearly understandable operator menus in 13 languages. As a standard, all models come fi lled with environmentally friendly natural refrigerant.

Case Studies Show Precise Temperature Control Increases Process Profi t Margins
It is common when choosing a temperature control system to make decisions by comparing manufacturer catalogue data; but, this can be misleading as heating and cooling power specifi cations give very little indication of performance. Good temperature control is about effi cient heat transfer to the application which results in smaller less expensive units, reduced resource consumption and increased process profi t margins.
The primary role of a thermoregulator is to control and change the temperature of an application and this is dependent on the thermoregulators ability to transfer heat energy to the process. The effi ciency of thermal energy transfer depends on the volume of heat transfer fl uid, the surface area exposed to the heat transfer fl uid and the fl ow rate of the fl uid over the surface of the heat exchanger.
Huber Unistats are a range of hydraulically sealed temperature control systems with a temperature range of -120°C to +425°C. Unlike conventional thermostats they have no internal bath, reducing the heat transfer fl uid volume to a low minimum. The plate heat exchanger provides a large surface area over which the thermal fl uid fl ows and low pressure pumps ensure that high fl ow rates are achieved, dramatically improving the speed and effi ciency of heat transfer. These refi nements give Unistats the ability to generate a wide Delta T between the process and jacket temperature, allowing heat to be quickly and effi ciently added or removed from the process. Once the desired set point temperature is in range the Unistat reduces the Delta T and calculates the amount of energy required to ensure that the target temperature is reached without overshoot.
To demonstrate the benefi t of effective heat transfer Huber produced a range of case studies showing the real-time performance of Unistats in combination with a range of reactors. Over 200 case studies are available to download from the Huber website and can be fi ltered by unit or application, allowing a comprehensive search; providing valuable performance data when choosing the right system for your process.
When the priority is reproducible results and tight temperature control, thermodynamically there is no alternative. It’s simple, high fl ow rates + effi cient thermal energy transfer = good temperature control! To demonstrate the performance of the Unistat range over 200 case studies have been carried out. They show the Unistats unique ability to adapt to process requirements, offering precise stability and control. More information online:
