QED Environmental Systems partners with UPS®
for carbon neutral shipping
Q.E.D Environmental Systems, Inc. (QED) has struck a carbon neutral services agreement with United Parcel Service (UPS®
) in order to
mitigate the environmental impact of shipping products to customers.
UPS® to determine the CO2
will use its carbon emissions calculator emissions of QED’s
shipments through the company, which it will then offset through the purchase of Carbon Credits. As part of the service, UPS®
will also
provide an annual report of calculations, with a view to demonstrating total carbon savings throughout the year.
Dean Kavanagh, Managing Director at QED Environmental Systems, said: “Facilitating a move towards more sustainable practice is one of our key business objectives for the year, so making such strong progress so early on is always pleasing.
“Through striking this agreement with UPS® , we can begin to make incremental green changes to the way we operate, beginning with offsetting the carbon emissions of delivering our products to customers.”
Each carbon offset is equivalent to one metric ton of carbon dioxide emissions, with offsets created and sold through carbon reduction projects. These projects often revolve around carbon capture and sequestration, with the Garcia River Forest, California, USA, and Chol Chaeron Biogas Capture, Cholburi, Thailand, some of the most notable examples.
QED’s Carbon Neutral Services Agreement with UPS is the latest development in a growing list of initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental impact. The business’ Environment and Community Committee is currently evaluating the possibility of introducing a solar panel array for the company’s home at Cyan Park, alongside a number of other measures to help reduce energy consumption within the building.
Since moving to the site from its former office in Leamington, the company has also maintained a significant reduction in paper usage, with initiatives around digitising Calibration Certificates set to come in the future.
Since 1982, QED has been a market leader in the manufacture of environmental technology solutions, spanning groundwater, soil and gas management and detection applications into environmental, industrial and renewable energy markets worldwide.
The company’s diverse product portfolio has been developed to help minimise the environmental impact of industrial applications, which QED now aims to mirror with a move towards more sustainable corporate operations.
Dean concluded: “We have long championed greener practice through our products, which allow countless sectors across the world to minimise their impact on the environment through effective analysis, detection and remediation techniques. It’s for this very reason that we have struck a Carbon Neutral Services Agreement with UPS®
, with a view to promoting sustainability from one
end of our operations to another.” More information online:
