The Highest Standards for Level Measuring and Monitoring
GF Piping Systems (Switzerland) expands its innovative product portfolio for measurement and control systems with easy-to-install level sensors. The 2280 series of instruments are used in chemical plants, water supply and treatment as well as in mobile tanks.
One-stop shopping – under this motto, GF Piping Systems offers system solutions for building technology, utilities and industry. Included in this
product offering are measurement and control systems for water and corrosive media. Complementary to the 2260/2270 level sensors, this portfolio has now been expanded with the new 2280 series of level switches. These easy-to-install devices are found in all the application areas covered by GF Piping Systems. The focus is particularly on safety in chemical plants as well as drinking water supply and water treatment systems.
The 2280 stainless steel family of vibrating fork level switches comprises 20 articles and is mainly implemented in chemical tanks to protect them from spillover or to protect pumps from running dry. Sensor design and certifi cation according to the German Federal Water Act (WHG) ensure a reliable shutdown of the system in case of emergency. The 2280 vibrating fork level switch is also explosion-proof in accordance with ATEX product guideline 94/9/EC. The switch can be used vertically and horizontally and is ideal for working with solvents. The products are available in two lengths and three connection options: as plug with molded cable and housing for demanding applications.
The 2284 ultrasonic fork level switch has been designed as an alternative to PFA-coated vibrating fork level switches. Its PPS housing offers optimal chemical resistance to aggressive media and is therefore ideally suited for chemicals dosing. The design has been made compact to fi t in the restricted space of tanks. The ultrasonic fork level switch comes with cable or terminal box.
An economical solution for the measurement of conductive liquids is the 2281 conductive multi-point sensor. Up to four measurement points can be recorded with the stainless steel rods, which can be extended to three meters. Signaling low- low, low, hi and hi-hi levels ensures maximum safety in the application. The sensor is a cost-effective and easy-to-install alternative to four individually built-in sensors.
The 2282 guided fl oat switch features a compact design and is an effi cient solution for fi ll level monitoring of water and chemicals. The vertically installed sensor with Reed contacts is ideal for non-sticky media; chemical resistance is guaranteed by its all-plastic housing in PP or PVDF.
The 2285 fl oat switch is found in water distribution applications as well as sewage treatment plants. For added safety it is equipped with two fl oat chambers and thanks to mercury-free switch contacts can also be used in drinking water applications. No power supply is required for installation. By means of a sliding weight, an individual switching angle can be determined.
Both the 2280 vibrating fork level switch and the 2285 fl oat switch can be combined with the 2260 ultrasonic level transmitter and the 2270 ultrasonic level sensor. The 2260 level transmitter and 2270 level sensor measure with an especially narrow beam and transmit the data to the control system. Thanks to the non-contact measurement principle, in which the fi ll level is constructed on the basis of a time-of-fl ight measurement, maintenance and cleaning are kept minimal.
Integrated in the extensive product portfolio of GF Piping Systems, the new measurement and control devices decisively expand the one-stop-shop offer. Whether individual components in a variety of materials or complete systems – GF Piping Systems provides a full range of services from technical advice to purchasing to on-site support and training in state-of- the-art training centers.

Rapid Bacterial Analysis - Giving Water Quality the Green Light
Baseline‘s (USA) GreenLight offers a fast, cost effective way to perform bacterial analysis on water. In as little as 45 minutes, GreenLight can calculate the total aerobic bacteria count in any water supply. Not only is the instrument fast, it is compact and easy to operate. Aerobic bacteria monitoring on a regular basis ensures a consistently safe water supply.
GreenLight is especially useful for environmental applications such as wastewater treatment, industrial wastewater, environmental water
quality and beach monitoring as well any other water based application where rapid results are needed.
GreenLight’s principal of operation is based on respiration of aerobic bacteria. The device measures the amount of oxygen, which then determines the levels of live active bacteria in both fresh and waste water streams.

Portable Turbidity Meter
The HI 93102 turbidity meter from Hanna Instruments (USA) is the complete tool for water analysis. This instrument not only measures turbidity, but also pH, total and free chlorine, bromine, iodine, iron, and cyanuric acid (CYS). Achieve laboratory results in the fi eld quickly and easily. Measurements are made quickly and repeatedly through a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use microprocessor. In colorimetric mode, users can select between factory preprogrammed calibration or calibrating the meter on their own, and measure either concentration or relative absorbance of the sample. Up to 25 measured samples can be stored in memory together with time and date. Miniaturisation of the electronics has made it possible to offer unsurpassed accuracy and quality in a portable unit weighing just one pound!
