WWEM Preview - UK Focus vii A Tale of 2 Halves - Water Monitoring at WWEM
Xylem Analytics, the manufacturer of market leading instrumentation brands such as YSI, SonTek, Aanderaa, MJK and WTW, will unveil an exciting array of new products at WWEM 2014. The company has booked a double stand at WWEM (104 & 105), one half of which will focus on wastewater monitoring, featuring the new WTW family of spectral sensors that offer highly reliable continuous, chemical-free measurements with no routine service and IQSensorNet compatibility (up to 20 sensors on one digital platform). Designed for rugged long-term reliability with minimal operational costs, these UV-VIS probes are ideal for the detection of load changes in wastewater influent and effluent, and for the monitoring of organic loads in rivers and lakes.
The other half of the booth will feature a new ‘smart’ digital handheld meter from YSI (using EXO technology) which means that the meters offer a number of advanced features. For example, sensors are able to retain their calibration and thereby save considerable time in the field.
The new SonTek SL 3G for measuring water velocity and level in open channels will also be on display. These 3rd Generation models employ SmartPulseHD technology, which continuously tracks water velocity and profiling range, depth, turbulence factors and signal-to-noise ratio, and automatically selects the optimum processing configuration to maintain high levels of accuracy.

Wastewater Monitoring Success in Indonesia and Malaysia A focus on export business in the Indonesian and Malaysian markets has
resulted in a 100% increase in sales within the Partech catalogue, marking a huge success for the UK-based company in their 50th year.
The company’s real-time control solutions for wastewater treatment (RTC)) has been receiving rave reviews by companies that have installed the system and experts will be available to discuss the efficiency and cost savings that are possible with RTC, which has dramatically reduced energy and chemical costs at plants that have already incorporated this technology. In addition HACH LANGE will run a Workshop entitled ‘Phosphate
Removal Using Chemical Precipitation – Common Misconceptions and Working Solutions.’
In addition to the latest process monitoring equipment, the HACH LANGE stand will also feature some of the company’s latest innovations in laboratory analysis including pocket colorimeters, portable water quality meters and sophisticated UV-VIS/VIS Spectrophotometers for the field and in the lab.
WWEM visitors involved in laboratory, field or online testing and measurement will have the opportunity to handle the latest water monitoring instrumentation. Visit stand 115/116 and find out more.

For the water industry, projects to date include: customised BOD, COD, PhysChem and Aquakem robots, as well as the enhancement of processes including data capture, sample reception, logistics, tracking and analysis, right through to automating an entire water laboratory, as was achieved at Vitens in the Netherlands.
An exciting addition to the company portfolio for 2014 is ELF, a bench-top Automated Laboratory Filtration robot. ELF semi-automates the process of filtering small volumes of wastewater, ready for all variety of testing. As well as minimising contact with often unpleasant samples and the risk of RSI, ELF can also represent significant savings to a lab both; in terms of both consumables and time.
To see ELF in operation, and for more information about any of their work, please visit Labman at WWEM stand 39.

Partech’s Export Sales Manager, David Wilson, said: “Our concentration on export trade has resulted in a great increase of buyers in the Indonesian and Malaysian markets, and we hope this will continue well into the future. It’s a great result for us, especially in our 50th year of trading.” Partech’s 740 Suspended Solids Monitor just one of the successes in the new markets, and can now be found in a number of treatment works throughout Indonesia and Malaysia. David added that Partech’s increased presence and involvement in the Indonesian and Malaysian markets is a positive indicator for the future development of Partech’s export business.
