Air Monitoring New Data Logger Boasts Versatile Use
Rotronic (Switzerland), manufacturer of precision measurement instruments, has launched a new data logger which not only meets international standards, but also - thanks to its versatility - is suitable for a wide range of applications. The company has thus complemented its product portfolio with an inexpensive data logger that offers accuracy and reliability.
Users who only need to record temperature should opt for the TL-1D. The HL-1D is intended for
applications where both temperature and humidity need to be measured.

Buyers of the new data logger may download the HW4-lite software package from Rotronic’s website free of charge.
The values stored in the HL-1D or the TL-1D are available for download with the HW4 software. After downloading the saved data, a graphical display of the values is possible. Via the HW4 software, the logging interval, logging mode, alarms and other such functions can be setup or enabled.

Alphasense (UK), established supplier of electrochemical gas sensors, also offers support circuits for the new ranges of A4 and B4 four-electrode sensors, together with a 4-20mA transmitter board for their NDIR CO2
infrared sensor.
Individual Sensor Boards (ISBs) have been built with lowest noise for the new B4 family of sensors, designed where best resolution at very low ppb levels is required in permanent fixed site networks. Requiring 3.5 to 6.4 VDC input, they provide buffered voltage output from both the working and auxiliary electrodes. Boards are pre-configured when you order for the type of sensor, with fixed zero and electronic gain. Each ISB supports one B4 sensor and requires less than 1.5 mA power.
The Analogue Front End (AFE) family of circuits is designed for use with the Alphasense A4 family of four-electrode gas sensors where space is critical, such as with mobile air quality monitors. Options include a 2-sensor AFE, 3-sensor AFE and 3-sensor +PID AFE. All AFE circuits include a low noise bandgap to provide 200 mV bias voltage for NO sensors. Requiring from 3.5 to 6.4 VDC supply, the 3-sensor board for example only needs 2 mA power. Each board includes a Pt1000, providing 1mV/K signal for your software temperature corrections. The AFE can measure both oxidising (CO, H2 SO2
S, NO, ) and reducing (O3, NO2 ) gas sensors; AFE configuration is specified when ordering.
Alphasense NDIR transmitter boards offer both 4-20mA and USB outputs. Concentration ranges can be recalibrated via PC/USB port using the proprietary software.

Having distributed Dynascan instruments since 2012, Cambridge Sensotec (UK) has finalised the acquisition of the local Cambridgeshire business this month. Founded in 2001 by a team of highly skilled specialists with over 30 years of experience, Dynascan are manufacturers of innovative leak detection systems and made to measure product quality solutions for the pharmaceutical, medical and food industries.
Cambridge Sensotec is an ISO 9001 accredited company who specialise in gas analysis and manufacture a range of portable and static gas analysers under the Rapidox brand. The analysers are designed for the likes of industrial processes, quality control applications and environmental monitoring, and are distributed globally through an international network of distributors.
The two companies have a strong history of collaboration in developing their product ranges and offerings. Cambridge Sensotec commissioned Dynascan to develop and build the Leakview in 2012, a product designed for the Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) market. In addition Dynascan worked on the technical development of the Rapidox range of portable SF6 and multi gas analysers launched in 2013.
Cambridge Sensotec is committed to maintaining a strong track record of growth, and the acquisition of Dynascan will serve to strengthen the company’s presence in both new and existing markets. In return the strong foundations of the Dynascan business, and the additional resources and collaborative opportunities will aid in the company’s ability to drive future growth opportunities and success.
Joining the company will be Charles Barker in the role of Product Manager and John Evans in the role of Electrical Engineer. Future product developments from Dynascan includes cellophane packaging leak detection equipment and for Cambridge Sensotec, the Rapidox SF6 Pump Back gas analyser due for launch in autumn 2014.
