Safety New Ground Gas Monitor Provides Continuous Data
Ion Science introduces GasClam, the first gas monitor to give continuous, unmanned ground-gas data collection. Its ability to log long-term, real trend information is a revolution in gas management and risk prediction allowing informed decisions to be made on accurate, reliable data.
GasClam measures methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations as well as atmospheric pressure and temperature. Optional CO, H2S and VOC, plus water depth are with a telemetry module for remote, real time data communication.
Sampling frequency can be set and is variable from two minutes, to once daily. Data is downloaded to a PC or viewed remotely using the optional GPRS telemetry system.
Manufactured from stainless steel, GasClam is Intrinsically Safe, environmentally sealed and ingress protection rated IP-68. Battery operated; GasClam can be powered for up to three months based on hourly sampling.
Target applications include landfill for long term profiling, brownfield for development issues, monitoring for coal mine fires, leakage in crude/petroleum, solvent storage and filling stations, refineries for local compliance, and for below ground carbon capture and storage monitoring regimes.

New Lightweight, Battery Operated Corrosion Monitor
Ion Science announces the introduction of the Hydrosteel 7000 Transportable Light (TL), a newly developed light-weight corrosion monitor for the non-intrusive measurement of hydrogen flux.
The Hydrosteel 7000 TL is a complete stand-alone battery operated kit weighing just 8 kg, 15 lb. The lightweight instrument has been designed for easy installation at the top of tall refinery towers and columns.
A major benefit of Hydrosteel 7000 TL is its ability to continuously monitor active corrosion and hydrogen risk damage, non-intrusively. This is particularly useful for sour, HF and high temperature corrosion events which occur over timescales of days, weeks and months.
Most non-intrusive monitors depend upon measuring difference in metal thickness over time. This prevents the measurement being identified by a corrosion cause. As flux responds to hour by hour changes in corrosion, Hydrosteel 7000 TL can be successfully used to identify what process parameters cause changes in corrosivity.
Highly accurate, Hydrosteel 7000 TL provides the most sensitive, precise hydrogen flux measurements available. Hydrosteel 7000 TL monitors continuously, without any human intervention, and responds to corrosion changes within minutes. The instrument provides cust- omers with an advantage by not relying upon an explosion proof box to confer safe use in class 1 division 2 areas. It requires no bespoke probe fittings, unlike many other corrosion monitors.
Developed for the continuous monito- ring of hydrogen activity, Hydrosteel 7000 TL is used within critical refinery sites suffering from sour corrosion and risk of hydrogen damage. Target industries for Hydrosteel 7000 TL include refineries, gas plants, gas oil separation plants and chemical industries using petrochemicals containing sour gas, and ammonia production. Wireless and solar options are available on request.
Hydrosteel 7000 TL is the latest addition to the leading range of handheld roaming, fixed and portable corrosion monitors, available through Ion Science and its global network of distributors.
