6 Analytical Instrumentation New Benchtop Spectrometers Launched

PANalytical’s (Netherlands) new range of Epsilon 3 benchtop energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometers challenges convention and outperforms expectations. Able to deliver accurate, precise and reliable results right across the periodic table, Epsilon 3 and Epsilon 3 XL versions match - and in some cases surpass - the analytical performance of larger, more powerful spectrometers. Leading light-element performance, full data traceability and a variety of software options for state-of-the-art standardless analysis, rapid identification fingerprinting or regulatory compliance, characterise the range. The new Epsilon 3 instruments offer cost-effective and capable alternatives for a wide variety of applications and industries. Simon Milner, Product Marketing Manager X-ray Spectrometry, explains how Epsilon 3 designers have managed to take benchtop EDXRF spectrometry to the next performance level; “Selective excitation and careful matching of the X-ray tube output to the capabilities of the detection system underlie

system performance. Advanced spectrum processing and unique correction and quantification algorithms ensure data accuracy and precision. The result is an affordable, highly flexible analytical tool suitable for applications in cement production, mining, mineral beneficiation, pharmaceutical, petroleum, polymers and related industries”.

Epsilon 3, the successor of the Minipal 4, features a new high-performance ceramic tube that has been developed specifically for this system. In addition, the range utilises the latest in silicon drift detector technology. Thin windows on both X-ray tube and detector enable light element analysis down to fluorine. Sample preparation is straightforward and a variety of sample types can be measured, for example, solids, pressed and loose powders, liquids and filter samples weighing from a few grams to larger bulk samples.

Elvatech Ltd. (Ukraine) introduce ElvaX Light SDD, the new version of Elvax Light Energy Dispersive XRF spectrometer. This compact instrument is used where precise qualitative and quantitative analysis of solids, liquids and powders may be required. The range of ElvaX Light SDD applications is as wide as the range of XRF method itself. X-ray Fluorescence has long been one of the key analysis methods in the petrochemical industry. ElvaX Light SDD is ideal for process and quality control laboratories to analyse fuels, lubricants and oils for such elements as sulphur, nickel, vanadium, lead, calcium, phosphorous, zinc, ferrum, natrium etc.

The most flexible and automated Vacuum D1160

Stand Alone operation PC XP supervisor control Easy access and use

Rugged design for harsh environment

Run up to 10 samples per day And more...

Gecil Process has been the first manufacturer of automatic vacuum distillation apparatus in accordance with ASTM D1160 in the 80’s. Since then our new MINIDIST 1160 V6 brings additional features and ease of use to your laboratory. This fully automatic instrument can be run locally or remotely controlled by a

Geared with an SDD detector with active area up to 25 mm2 and using state of the art quantative analysis algorithms, ElvaX Light detects most elements in concentrations as low as 1.0 ppm in light matrix.

This instrument’s detection range, accuracy and precision are the answer to the needs of the petrochemical industry, in which the concentration of each element is so critical in ensuring correct properties of the final product. With a completely automated measuring process and an intuitive, user friendly interface, ElvaX Light SDD will for sure enhance efficiency and accuracy of your laboratory.

The use of ElvaX Light SDD XRF analyser is constantly increasing throughout Europe, US, Russia, Middle East, India and many other countries worldwide. The ElvaX Light SDD is ideal for process and quality control laboratories analysing sulphur in fuels, sulphur, nickel and vanadium in fuel oils, and lead in gasoline.

To achieve the required oil properties, specific elements such as calcium, phosphorous, zinc, (the additive elements) are added to a base oil, and the concentration of each element is critical in ensuring correct properties of the final oil quality and production control Elvatech’s new ED-XRF unit can also perform the monitoring of FE, Na, Sb and K as process efficiency indicators, monitoring of additives and stabilisers in lubricating oils, regular wear metals analysis in lubricants, determination of S, Ni, Cl, and V levels in waste oil and analysis of petroleum coke
