ATEX Approved Gas Detection Device for Remote Monitoring of Toxic Gases and Oxygen
Honeywell Analytics’ (UK) Sensepoint XCD RTD (Remote Toxic Detector) can help businesses reduce the ongoing cost of gas detection whilst increasing on-site safety. Sensepoint XCD RTD is able to do this by providing a common transmitter platform that supports a wide range of toxic gas hazards and Oxygen; this means that common tools and common mounting arrangements can be used on-site, helping to reduce the cost of installation and training required.
The device also helps to keep sites safe by providing enhanced, easily accessible visual cues; Searchpoint XCD RTD’s unique, fully illuminated tri-colour LCD shows the status at a glance – even from a distance. This benefits the user by making devices requiring attention easier to find on-site. Sensepoint XCD RTD is designed to offer excellent flexibility of use and is an ideal solution for hard-to-reach locations or areas where the transmitter needs to be separate from the sensor. With remote sensor mounting of up to 30 metres / 100 feet away from the transmitter, Sensepoint XCD RTD provides a robust monitoring solution even in challenging environments where detection is difficult.
Sensepoint XCD RTD helps keep sites safe with enhanced, easily accessible visual cues. The device’s unique, fully illuminated tri-colour LCD shows the transmitter’s status – normal, warning/fault or alarm – at a glance, even from a distance. A steady green backlight indicates normal operation, flashing yellow indicates warning/fault and flashing red indicates an alarm. This benefits the user by making devices requiring attention easier to find on-site. This detector simplifies set up and configuration with its LCD and non-intrusive magnetic switches, which helps reduce the ongoing cost of gas detection.
Sensepoint also minimises false alarms through an auto-inhibit of outputs when the device is being adjusted, preventing unnecessary false alarms at the control panel. This enables an engineer to make changes to the device in the field without requiring a second operator at the control panel to manually inhibit the device.
This detector Monitors a wide range of toxic gases including Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Ammonia (NH3), Chlorine (Cl2), Oxygen (O2), Hydrogen (H2), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitric Oxide (NO) and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2). Sensepoint XCD RTD is certified for use in hazardous areas by ATEX (European) and IECEx (International). Other Asian approvals are also available.

Detcon’s (USA) Model FP-100 is a low power gas detection sensor designed to detect and monitor combustible gases in air over the range of 0-100% LEL using catalytic bead sensor technology. The sensors are 4-20mA and feature intelligent electronics with automated calibration and comprehensive fault diagnostics. All electronics are fully encapsulated in an electro-polished 316 stainless steel housing.
The plug-in field replaceable sensor cell features large surface area gold-plated pins that help reduce the effects of
corrosion in harsh industrial environments. The Model FP-100’s exceptional packaging and innovative design marks a return to a simple, durable, and more affordable gas detection sensor without compromising quality.
Upper enclosure options are aluminum and stainless steel (with a replaceable transient protection board). Although the Model FP-100 is extremely simple and low cost, it can be customized with additional accessories that include wireless communications, a loop-powered digital display, Remote Alarm Module (RAM), HART, or a Modbus RS-485 interface.

With the new Oxy 6000 Dräger (Germany) introduces an oxygen self- rescuer with "Safety Eye", which allows the user to determine whether the device is ready for use at any time.
Oxygen self rescuers are designed for self rescue and protect the user from toxic gases and vapors, smoke and fog as well as from lack of oxygen. They are used after an accident for a fast retreat from the danger zone or while waiting for help. This year, Dräger introduces the Oxy 6000, a new freely portable oxygen self rescuer that features an integrated mouthpiece, nose clip and protective goggles for workers in e.g. mining, as well as utilities and shipping applications.
The self-rescuer is equipped with a so-called "Safety Eye". It allows the user to determine at a single glance whether the device is ready for use. The round display
window on the side facing the body informs the user about possible moisture or yellow KO2 fragments inside the device at any time. In this case, the device must be exchanged immediately. With the "Safety Eye," Dräger offers continuous monitoring in any situation and at any time. Even under extreme ambient conditions (such as mining), the Oxy 6000 oxygen self rescuer offers maintenance-free operation for up to ten years.
The Oxy 6000 is an escape device that functions independently of the ambient air and operates on the basis of chemically bound oxygen. At a normal breathing rhythm, the device offers up to 60 minutes of independence from the ambient air – important time to escape out of the danger zone and seek shelter.

With an accuracy of better than ± 0.15% f.s., the PTEEXi series from Asentec (Germany) can be used as a calibration reference or in applications where high accuracy pressure measurement is required from safety valve checks to system pressure verification. This certificate will allow the PTEEXi to be used in any industry where there is a risk of flammable gases or dust. These include oil refineries, off-shore platforms, chemical plants, gas production plants, oil and gas shipping or any other hazardous area such as in pharmaceuticals.
Various pressure ports and liquid filled capillary systems open a large number of applications. The following ports are available; G1/4“, G1/2“, ½” NPT, ¼“ AEHP, ½“ 20UNF, M10x1, M18x1.5, PF3/4“ with others available on request.
The ATEX certificate includes: II 1 G Ex ia IIC T1-T5= 80°C, T6 = 75°C Ga for gas, and II 1 D Ex ia IIIC T85°C Da IP63 for dust. Other certificates including, Gost, IECex, including others are in preparation.

FLIR Advanced Thermal Solutions (France) has announced two high performance macro lens for use with their FLIR SC645 and FLIR SC655 thermal imaging cameras.
Available in a choice of 2.9x and 5.8x magnification the new FLIR Close-up Lens enable accurate temperature readings of small objects such as fuses, printed circuit boards and analysis of very small components and processes.
The 2.9x close-up lens can resolve elements as small as 50 microns within a field-of-view of 32 x 24 mm (40 mm diagonal). The 5.8x close-up lens operates over a larger field- of-view (64 x 48 mm, 80 mm diagonal) and can resolve elements as small as 100 microns. The new close-up lens are manufactured to the highest quality standards and are easily connected to your FLIR thermal imaging camera.

Gas Detector Your Passport to Safe Working
The V!SA from Gas Measurement Instruments (UK) can be tailored to detect up to five gases with its toxic and catalytic sensors, photo ionisation detectors and infrared capabilities. ‘Plug and play’ option allows the customer to ‘plug in’ a new board with a different gas specification without the need to return the product.
The compact instrument weighs 400g and measures 140x85x45mm. With wide temperature and humidity ranges of –20 to +50º and 0 to 95%, the V!SA can be used in the most demanding industrial environments.
The V!SA is particularly useful in noisy environments, featuring a very loud (95dBA) penetrating and distinctive audible alarm together with high visibility large area visual alarm. Pump, diffusion or both together, allowing pumped sample for pre-entry checking and diffusion in confined space working, thus maximising battery life.
A robust, moulded, rubberised casing guaranteeing Hi-Viz and Hi-Impact resistance, the V!SA is ATEX standard with II2 G, EEx iad IIC T3/T4 IEC Ex iad IIC T3, CE and MED approved to both modules B and E.
