28 Safety - Focus on ATEX ATEX Certified Total Volatile Compound Monitor for Zone 2 Areas without Safety Barriers Ion Science (UK) introduces the ATEX approved 3 wire TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compound) monitor, for use without safety barriers in Zone 2 hazardous areas.
The ATEX certified TVOC monitor can be installed without barriers in a Zone 2 area, to directly replace an existing VOC area monitor. A significant benefit to the customer is the instrument’s easy installation; saving time and reducing costs. TVOC is also available as an IECEx and ATEX approved 4 wire option for zone 1 areas, with safety barriers.
Designed for fixed, continuous area monitoring, TVOC provides rapid and accurate detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The 4-20mA analogue output allows TVOC to be integrated into a DCS control system to provide warning or control of high VOC levels within the working environment.
The TVOC photoionisation detection (PID) cell utilises patented Fence Electrode Technology; independently verified as the best performing PID on the market. Its proven PID capabilities provide an unrivalled resistance to humidity and give faster, more consistent results than competing PID instruments. Target industries and applications for TVOC include; manufacturing and processing plants, refineries, petrochemical, offshore, chemical and indoor air quality.

R. Stahl’s (Germany) Yodalex range of signalling devices for hazardous areas includes manual call points suitable for use in Ex zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. The units have been designed for installation in harsh environments, such as the petrochemical industry and the oil and gas sector. They meet the requirements of EN54-11 and comply with the ATEX, IECEx and GOST-R specifications.
Manufactured from corrosion-resistant glass-reinforced polyester (GRP), the Ex d flameproof enclosure features high-tolerance machined flame paths constructed to withstand extreme pressures. The lightweight devices are available as Break Glass and Push Button versions. They are finished in weather-resistant red paint, with other colours available on request. The manual call points provide IP66 protection and are suitable for a -
55 to +70°C temperature range. Featuring four M20 cable gland entry points, they allow for flexible installation. Certified stopping plugs and glands are included in delivery. Optionally, the units can be equipped with an integrated red LED to indicate operation.

The Wolf LED Floodlite from Wolf Safety (UK)is a high performance, low maintenance, ATEX compliant Hazardous Area Floodlite, using high output, high efficiency LEDs and designed to be transportable specifically for use in temporary applications and installations.
The Wolf WF-300 LED Floodlite range is CE marked to the ATEX Directive for use in Zone 1 and 2 potentially explosive gas and dust atmospheres, with 48 ultra bright high power LEDs producing 3,300 lumens of brilliant white light, brighter than a 200 watt halogen incandescent lamp. Cable powered from voltages of 100 to 254V AC or 24 to 48V AC/DC, the Lamp has low power consumption at 58 watts, is T4 rated and has a low enclosure surface temperature, eliminating the risk of burns.
Supplied as standard with 20 metres of SY Cable, ATEX plug, and integral stainless-steel stand; the LED Floodlite can also be fitted with an ATEX socket, to allow the lamps to be linked together for quick and easy setup of multiple LED units in temporary installations.
Constructed from powder coated marine grade aluminium alloy and sealed dust and watertight to IP66/67, this very low maintenance Wolf LED Floodlite is available with a medium flood as standard, or a wide angle beam to order. Other accessories include a sacrificial lens protecting films for grit blasting and painting applications, magnet fixings and tripod options.

For over 30 years now Schischek (Germany) has supplied electric explosion proof products for building services to a wide range of industry sectors including Oil & Gas (ventilation and safety systems for onshore and offshore applications ), ship-building, chemical plants and water treatment.
IT’S WHAT’S INSIDE THAT COUNTS
MSA’s ALTAIR 4X and ALTAIR 5X are now equipped with XCell sensor technology to provide increased performance, reduction of your cost of ownership and help reducing CO2 emissions.
PERFORMANCE BEYOND WHAT YOU SEE
MSA XCell Sensors are designed for an average life of more than four years, double the industry average, and are engineered using MSA’s pro prietary application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design.
By miniaturizing the sensors’ controlling electronics and placing them inside the sensor itself, MSA XCell Sensors offer superior stability under extreme environmental conditions, accuracy and repeatability.
In addition to MSA XCell Sensors, the ALTAIR 5X Multigas Detector can also be equipped with our wide variety of IR sensors covering many gases and ranges including CO2.
The Company slogan “Protection of Life. Health. Assets.” describes their ethos and philosophy. It’s not only about research & development, manufacturing and sales but also the security of plant, equipment, machines, systems and most importantly people. Observing all relevant norms and certification, a wide product range has been created for use in Explosion proof zones and in the HVAC industry.
Schischek has built its name with innovative components and concepts in international markets. Actuators for air dampers, fire dampers, air volume control and valve actuation (both rotary and linear) have been developed for a wide range of conditions of service and environment. The range is complemented by a comprehensive range of sensors, both switching and continuous output (0-10VDC, 4-20mA selectable), for temperature, humidity, pressure, fan belt monitoring and frost protection.

Right from the start, when developing new models, Schischek has paid attention to the highest protection classes and the use of the devices with all types of gases, mists, vapours and dust. Thus the whole range can be used in ATEX zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. All approvals are obtained on the basis of the latest explosion proof norms and only from serious certified bodies. Additionally, Schischek pay a lot of attention to enlarge the scope of approvals by applying for international certificates. Therefore, today’s product range is not only certified according to ATEX 94/9/EG but also to IEC-Ex, ExGost (Russia) and CSA/ FM (Canada and USA).
