Analytical Instrumentation 13 Te XRF Solution For Petrochemical Industry
Through the whole lifetime of petrochemical products (oil, polymers, chemicals, ...) from the production to disposal, thermal treatment or use as secondary fuel, X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) is the most suited analytical method to support all those different applications. Bruker AXS has developed the specific XRF solution to support all petrochemical applications based on XRF: Petro-Quant.
Petro-Quant provides quick and easy quantitative elemental analysis for process and quality control laboratories with the world class wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer S8 Tiger. Petro-Quant produces accurate and precise analytical results straight out of the box as the wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (WDXRF) is calibrated for a wide range of applications. It frees therefore the operator from time consuming calibration work, saving weeks of commissioning, to ensure the pay back begins from the very beginning.
For general analysis of hydrocarbon matrices, such as fuels and lubricants, the universal Petro-Quant calibration is used. It enables standardless analysis for all required elements (more than 30) from Sodium (Na) to Lead (Pb) covering concentrations from trace elements ppm) to major levels (%) (e.g. for S and Cl).
For compliance with international norms such as ASTM, DIN, IP or EN ISO, samples must be analysed against norm specific calibrations. Petro-Quant even supports these standards with detailed instructions and specific suites of calibration solutions.

Quick, Easy and Precise Quantitative Elemental Analysis of Hydrocarbons
X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) is used in the hydrocarbon processing industry and related branches for trace element determination in all kind of petrochemical materials. Often a single instrument has to provide full analytical flexibility and performance for all applications in quality and process control, research and development, fulfilling future demands and decreasing limit values for regulated elements. Bruker AXS offers the WDXRF spectrometer S8 Tiger with its innovative, optimised X-ray optics and user interface matching all needs in petrochemical labs.
While the S8 Tiger’s low temperature, high-intensity X-ray tube with protective coating excites the sample even more efficiently, the combination of the tube with the shortest beam path leads to the highest possible element sensitivities. The versatile beam path and wide selection of different crystals and collimators provide advanced analytical flexibility even for the most demanding applications.
Thanks to SampleCare users in the petro chemistry can rely on the S8 Tiger 100%. SampleCare constantly protects all important system components from contamination, which might lead to incorrect results or in the worst case to system stoppage. Our S8 Tiger with SampleCare prevents this safely in 4 ways: The DuraBeryllium tube shield protect the head of the X-ray tube; the mask changer and the unique vacuum seal protect the goniometer chamber. If, by chance anything should have gone wrong during preparation, and the sample breaks or leaks out, it is not a problem. System components are well protected, easy to access and can be cleaned with little effort.
