Measurement and Testing New High Temperature Charge Output Accelerometer


PCB Piezotronics (USA), a world leader in vibration, acoustic, pressure, force and torque sensors, has launched a new high temperature charge output accelerometer that is designed to withstand the challenges of extreme heat environments such as gas turbines and nuclear power plants.


Designed to survive in temperatures up to 704°C, the new PCB series EX611A20 is ideal for use in various gas turbine applications such as bearing health monitoring, condition monitoring and structural damage monitoring. Other applications include commissioning of nuclear power plants. Packaged in a hermetically-sealed Inconel industrial housing, the EX611A20 is ATEX approved for Ex ia IIC T6 to T710C and comes with integral 3m hard-line cable terminating in a LEMO connector as standard. Other connectors (e.g. 2-pin mini MIL) and cable lengths are available to order. The accelerometer is a drop-in replacement for existing competing products but offers significant advantages in warranty, pricing, lead time and height in comparison.


PCB’s model EX611A20 features a further distinct competitive advantage with its shear mode sensing elements being far less sensitive to thermal transients than the compression mode sensors used in competing products. With these accelerometers being designed specifically for use in extreme temperature environments, this design feature delivers a crucial benefit to the end user.

Designed and manufactured by Omega (UK), the DPi1701 series of 1/8 DIN monochrome are high resolution graphic display panel meters and data loggers for temperature and process measurement.


This CE compliant product features optional alarm relays, isolated analogue output, isolated 24Vdc excitation voltage and wireless receiver. The DPi1701 records 85,000 data points with time & date stamping. The logging starts / stops based on time and date, alarm 1 or 2 status, or a key press. It monitors and displays minimum and maximum process values.


The process input is displayed in a horizontal bar graph, line graph charting or standard digital format. In the Chemical industry, it can measure, monitor, and graph the temperature of a process. In the Oil & Gas industry, it can measure, monitor, and graph the line pressure. In research labs, it can measure, monitor, and graph precision RTD sensor profiles. This product is also ideal for Food processing, paper and steel industries.
