34 New Video Demonstrates Fast and Easy Microplate Pipetting

Integra continues to place itself at the forefront of pipetting technology, developing and perfecting its VIAFLO 96/384 range of microplate pipettes for a variety of applications, including ELISA, PCR, and nucleic acid and protein extraction. With intuitive hand guided operation, these systems enable the simultaneous transfer of entire plates in a single step, increasing throughput and reproducibility.

The benchtop VIAFLO 96 and 384 channel pipettes benefi t from a small footprint and easily exchangeable pipetting heads, allowing rapid selection of the optimal volume range for increased precision and accuracy. The motor-assisted manual operation is intuitive, easy to learn and ensures an effortless workfl ow for plate replication and reformatting. A three- position stage is also available to minimise the handling of plates, reservoirs and tip boxes, and a special plate holder offers the same high precision when working with 1,536 well plates. In addition, the latest instruments feature an automation mode, ideally suited to pipetting protocols involving many repetitive steps – serial dilutions for example – or working in environments where space is restricted, such as a laminar fl ow cabinet.

The many benefi ts of the VIAFLO 96/384 product range can be seen in a recently published video. Visit www.integra-biosciences.com/en/electronic-pipettes/viafl o-96384#see-it-work to learn more.

ADVERTORIAL Speciality Glassware Manufacturer Expands Product Portfolio

Borosil is the leading manufacturer of speciality glassware in India. For over 50 years, Borosil has been supplying a wide array of laboratory products from speciality low expansion borosilicate glass. Glass products like analytical vials, bottles, quartz ware besides other laboratory equipment like distillation units, digestors, liquid handling, stirrers and mixers.

Borosil’s Volumetric glasswares are precisely calibrated and meet DIN, ISO and ASTM standards. The calibration premises includes a state of the art NABL accredited (ISO/IEC 17025:2005) facility.

The brand name LABQUEST is derived out of Borosil’s appreciation and recognition of the awesome work that is done by chemists in laboratories.

Borosil have always worked in close connect with their customers. In fact, most products in the portfolio have evolved after inputs from the actual users of products. This year Borosil are delighted to introduce exciting products in various product groups.

With the extension of its testing product range to include polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based systems, Hygiena now covers the entire spectrum of reliable contamination detection, from sample collection to screening of indicator organisms to specifi c microbial characterisation. These products are suitable for large and small manufacturers of fast- moving consumer goods (FMCG), as well as large corporate laboratories and contract testing facilities serving the food and beverage sector. The all-inclusive product line has been specifi cally designed to enable the timely detection of quality and safety issues, to give manufacturers the confi dence that their quality assurance programs operate to the highest standards. The latest additions of the BAX®

System, RiboPrinter® System and

Hygiena™ Lateral Flow System follow the acquisition of DuPont Diagnostics (formerly known as Qualicon) and establish Hygiena as a leading provider of targeted solutions, including adenosine triphosphate (ATP), colorimetric, PCR and allergen monitoring systems.

Designed to detect harmful bacteria and other microbes in food and environmental samples, the award-winning BAX®

System

analyses samples at the genetic level to provide excellent sensitivity, specifi city and accuracy. Highly reliable results dramatically decrease false positives, minimise re-testing and optimise speed of time-to-result with minimum hands-on time. With two options available, the BAX®

System X5 and BAX®

System Q7 meet the food testing needs of different laboratories, from small to high throughput. Hygiena’s RiboPrinter®

System

provides automated identifi cation of unknown bacterial isolates, characterising them at or below the species level, enabling users to implement highly targeted, effective and effi cient safety and quality interventions. Completing the new range, the Hygiena Lateral Flow System uses test strips that combine optimised microbial antibodies and colloidal gold conjugate coated on the surface of a membrane. This approach enables faster pathogen screening results than conventional culture-based testing.

”Fast, reliable methods are required to meet the ever increasing challenges posed by new products with fresher exotic ingredients, new processes and packaging designs, shorter delivery times and extended shelf life,” said Dr Martin Easter, Chief Scientifi c Offi cer at Hygiena. “To meet this need, we have invested heavily in our research and development efforts to expand Hygiena’s testing product range with even more innovative solutions. Our comprehensive portfolio features a breadth of easy-to-use, robust, affordable systems designed to provide precise results users can rely on.”
