A look behind the scenes at Beeston’s new cinema


Beeston Square’s new cinema is nearing completion


Beeston’s new cinema remains on track for opening this year as work safely continued on site during the latest lockdown. Despite the varying restrictions


on building work since the first national lockdown in March 2020, the team behind its construction has provided an update saying it is progressing well.


The keys for the new eight-


screen leisure venue are due to be handed over to operator The Arc Cinema ahead of its planned opening in summer 2021. It forms the cornerstone of the


Beeston Square development, which is led by Broxtowe Borough Council and also features food and beverage units and 132 new homes.


Councillor Greg Marshall, from


the council's project board, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the progress that has been made on the cinema. This year has been challenging for so many people in so many ways, and it has been no exception for this project. “However, thanks to the close partnership between Bowmer +


Kirkland, The Arc Cinema and the project board, work has been able to proceed at pace and on track for completion by the end of the year. “Once open, the cinema will


create a fantastic destination for the people of Beeston and the wider Broxtowe area, as well as providing a much-needed boost to the town’s post-5pm economy.”
