The company founded by former Leicestershire Law Society president Glynis Wright MBE has been bought by a top 200 law firm. Family solicitors and mediator Glynis Wright & Co,

part of its ambitious strategy for growth and will support its vision to become the strongest and biggest family law department in the region. Glynis, who was president of Leicestershire Law

Society in 2019/20, founded her firm in April 2011 and has grown it into a £1.2m turnover business. In 2018, it became the only Leicester firm to date to win Law Firm of the Year at the national Law Society Excellence Awards. She will join Nelsons’ Leicester office, in New Walk,

as a partner and head up the family law team in the city – bringing seven lawyers and one soon-to-be qualified solicitor, who specialise in all aspects of private family law cases, including complex financial settlements.

Prof Shearer West CBE 4 business network February 2021 “Over the years, Glynis Wright & Co has taken a

lead in the Leicester market and that’s something I’ve always wanted to build on regionally and beyond,” said Glynis. “Nelsons is a vibrant, dynamic and innovative

company that is wanting to develop the Leicester market and become the strongest regional firm, so our ambitions match up perfectly. Culturally, we’re very well aligned too.” Last year, Nelsons, which also has offices in

Nottingham and Derby, hit the first milestone of its financial target – growing its after-tax profits by 27% to £3.6m and boosting turnover by 8% from £15.9m to £17.2m for the year ending May 2019. Nelsons’ chief executive Stewart Vandermark said

it would help Nelsons’ strategy to increase its overall turnover to £20m and helped ambitions to create the “biggest and strongest family law department in the East Midlands”. He added: “We’re looking forward to Glynis and

her team joining Nelsons and supporting us as we push boundaries to empower our clients.”
