Reaching nearly 40 cm in length, the Giant African Millipede is the largest species of its kind. Contrary to popular belief, they don’t have a thousand legs – it’s more likely to be around 275. But that’s still a lot of shoes!


The wingspan of a Peafowl peacock is 1.4 to 1.6 m. Originating from


India, they’re most well known for their stunning tail feathers and their displays to attract a mate. Our males will display to anything throughout the warmer months…even a fence post! Our peahen loves to pose in a mirror.


Domesticated relatives of the European Polecat,


ferrets are cunning little carnivores and will sleep 14 to 18 hours a day. They always draw a crowd when the Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park rangers take them for a walk on their leads.

The Buff Orpington is a rare breed of chicken with a very placid,


friendly and docile nature. They are one of the best birds for the fi rst-time keeper and make an ideal pet for those with children. The single comb should have fi ve points and there is also a rose comb variety.


Tiny and stunningly beautiful, mandarin ducks have suffered from habitat destruction and there are now fewer than 1000 pairs in native China, though they are much more common in Japan and the UK. Come and see these cute guys in our tropical house.


The coati is a medium-sized, tree-climbing mammal found in South America, Central America,


and south-western North America. Coatis have a long, pig-like snout which gives them the nickname ‘the hog-nosed racoon’. There are four species – the ring-tailed or South American coati (which we have), white-nosed, eastern mountain, and western mountain.
