At long last, we’ve managed to find a mate for our rhea, Dexter, who’s been pining for some female company. Lady rheas, which are also native to South America and related to the ostrich and emu, are pretty hard to come by. “Only boys have been found in the


zoo world, so she’s a great find,” says general manager Stevie Sheppard. “She was being kept as a pet but became too big for her owner’s garden. Hopefully, she’ll be everything Dexter wants.” We’re also delighted to announce


several births – three gorgeous Pygmy goats, along with two sets of very rare breed Bagot goat twins. And we’ll be asking you for your name suggestions! Our rare breed Golden Guernsey,


Maggie, is also about to deliver a new addition to our goat brood and we can’t wait for the patter of more tiny hooves. Our cute Cameroon lamb, Little Foot, who was seen on Channel 4’s

a big boy now,” says Stevie. “He’s back with his family but still wants a cuddle when he sees me. He’ll probably become a nightmare when he’s older because he has no fear of people!” You might not be able to hop on a


plane and head Down Under for now, but we can bring Australia’s gems to you with our Outback Safari. Say hello to our inquisitive emus and


wonderful wallabies, and see if you can get a peak of their gorgeous joeys. From our rare breed sheep, pigs,


cattle and birds to our camels, tapirs, capybaras, reindeer and meerkats, our animals have been feeling really lonely and can’t wait to see you again.
