VolkerRail secures three DSF contracts
Network Rail has appointed VolkerRail as a supplier on its Design Services Framework (DSF). The DSF is worth an estimated £400m and
will deliver design services across the country for the period 2019-2024 (Control Period 6), with the option to extend into 2024-2029 (Control Period 7). The 82 contracts went live on 1 January 2020
and are split across four multi-discipline frameworks and 78 single-discipline frameworks. VolkerRail was awarded three single-discipline contracts: • Electrification & Plant – Plant: North East (Eastern)
• Signalling: North West & Scotland (North West & Central; and Scotland’s Railway) • Signalling: North East (Eastern)
Daljinder Chatta, Network Rail’s Commercial Director, said: “Network Rail will have greater access to a design support network, providing mutual benefits to both Network Rail and the supply chain. Some of these include working
more directly with suppliers, improved assurance, getting closer to experts, improved business and safety performance and enabling innovation to thrive.” Ken Robinson, VolkerRail’s Specialist
Businesses Director, said: “The award of these contracts is testament to our continued commitment to enhance and expand our capabilities within the sector. Our design team is already providing high quality services for Network Rail and are looking forward to building a stronger relationship with their team.”

The Crown Hotel Exciting plans for The Crown
The Crown Hotel was delighted to purchase buildings on Scot Lane in Bawtry at the end of 2019, and leasing to new takeaway owners the Bull House Chinese, offering takeaway food into Bawtry and the surrounding areas: a great addition to the Crown Hotel and Bawtry Hall portfolio. Craig Dowie, Managing Director, said: “We
wish Bull House Chinese all the best with the new venture and are pleased to be leasing our new premises to such a great team and amazing Chinese food – if you haven’t yet tried it – it’s a must!”
January commenced with the refurbishment
of the Hogarth Wedding Suite. The ‘new look’ suite will boast wooden flooring, chandeliers and a classic grey and white colour scheme.
The Hogarth’s lounge area and booths will
also be revamped in line with the main space. April will see the restoration of the Hotel’s
frontage, bringing with it an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining and drinking, with the proposed design reflects a contemporary aesthetic, intended to promote ultimate guest comfort and enjoyment of the new outdoor space. Sales Director Katey Dent said: “This is an
exciting time for The Crown and Bawtry. We wanted to bring our guests plenty of al fresco charm for lunch, dinner or drinks, where you can enjoy the exciting Crown menu.” The plan is in line with the ambitious Neighbourhood Development Plan that will help guide regeneration across the Bawtry and Doncaster region up to 2032.
