The Chamber welcomes Joada as new President

work experience and supporter of small businesses, she uses her experience as a teacher, video producer and entrepreneur to help develop an inclusive economy for Barnsley, more recently she was appointed as Vice Chair of the More & Better Jobs Taskforce. She was totally surprised to be asked to
become President. As Joada said: “I had been a member of the
Board for two years but never thought any further than that. I watched Lisa Pogson work hard as President and it felt like something much further away than anything I had thought about. “I have a very strong personality let's

lot of time banging the drum for skills in Barnsley and Rotherham, helping to link together businesses and learners. This may be schools but also services that help adults back into work. My focus is helping develop the skills agendas in both towns and linking them with businesses. “I would like businesses and leaders across the
region to work with us and have regular and open honest conversations whether that’s local

councillors, authorities, businesses, schools or service providers to help us work towards a stronger South Yorkshire. “As you can imagine I am going to need my
Vice Presidents Matthew Stephens and Matt Travis for support and my predecessor Lisa Pogson is only ever a phone call away. It’s a bit
of a dream team to be honest! I think it was the perfect time to take on the role and I hope the position allows me to push my Skills agenda and I look forward to seeing some positive steps and positive outcomes. I'm not naive enough to think that it is not going to have its challenges and I know I'll be very busy.”
