I hope my letter finds you all fit and well. As the nights begin to get lighter, hopefully we will see the first signs of spring starting to appear. Thank goodness! It’s been a busy time at HQ, what with Membership subscriptions coming in, along with some
tremendous entries for the Premier Trophy Awards competition. As I write, the Clerks of Works judges have spent two days scrutinising the entries spread across the seven categories. For those who have been successful in being shortlisted, the site visits will be commencing during February. I wish everyone the best of luck and will see the successful final shortlist candidates on stage with me in London on 2 July. If you haven’t already done so, please don’t forget to pay your 2020 Membership subscriptions
by 28 February. You will then be entered into the prize draw for the Graco Classic 190 Airless spray machine. Who knows, I could be coming in person to knock on your front door, delivering this great piece of kit! On the subject of Membership, a new benefit has been added to the Markel Law 24hr advice line.
It goes in tandem with work that the PDA started back in late 2018 on helping to raise awareness of stress and depression amongst construction-related tradespeople. I’m pleased to announce that as part of PDA Membership, a new stress counselling advice service is available as part of the Markel package. Whilst we all hope that we won’t have to use such a service, sadly, we do hear more frequently of Members who would really benefit from some advice. The full policy document and summary of the legal Membership benefits can be found in the website Members area. Simply use your login details, to access it. Once you have paid your Membership fee, you will receive your PDA Membership card. This
contains the new login code enabling access the Markel Law Business Platform. The usual cost for this service is £189 per year but it is free to our Members using the 2020 login code. On the platform you will find a comprehensive array of work-related documents and templates to assist you in day-to-day business management. We continue to attract new associate partners. In recent weeks, both Graham & Brown and
Datacolor, who are based in Switzerland have partnered with us. Further news on these, along with new exclusive Member deals to follow in the future. Our social media presence continues to grow since the start of our new marketing and PR strategy
in October. We have seen a positive increase in followers across all channels within this short time. Please do continue to follow and participate in our conversation. I hope you have enjoyed our series of PDA Podcasts. We have recorded five in the current series
with Members across the UK. The links to these have been posted on our social media channels and the E-newsletter. The E-newsletter is now being distributed to Membership every
two weeks. On this you will find all our latest information, deals and what’s happening in ‘PDA World’ – Please make sure to mark this as ‘Not Spam / Junk’ with your email provider! Finally – The closing date for applications for our Trophy
Awards Apprentice competition is 21 February. We look forward to meeting our sector’s up-and-coming talent on 1 and 15 May at the Northern and Southern Competition Heats.
