ith abandoned oil and gas inventories a growing problem throughout Alberta, the Orphan Well Association has been hard at work in remediating the thousands of sites that dot the province’s landscape.


The Orphan Well Association (OWA) is an independent non-profit


organization that operates under the delegated legal authority of the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER).The OWA’s funding comes primarily from the upstream oil and gas industry through annual levies admin- istered by the AER.The association’s team is comprised of engineers and scientists who are experts in retiring both conventional and unconventional oil and gas assets.
