October, the issue has continued to be a major talking point through- out the province. Climate change has impacted increasing temperatures, rising ocean


levels and more frequent droughts, floods and forest fires across the globe. One resource that was created to look at temperature changes in


Alberta was created at the University of Lethbridge by professor of geography, Stefan Kienzle, and it analyzes daily temperatures in Alberta on an interactive map (www.albertaclimaterecords.com). The map tracks temperature changes in Alberta between 1950 and


2010, and from these stats, the average annual temperature has increased between two and three degrees, mostly in the winter months. From the analysis found in Kienzle’s project, he found the number of heat waves have doubled in Alberta since 1950 and he also stated he doesn’t expect those numbers to cool down moving forward. With a large majority of climate scientists agreeing that human activi-


ty is responsible for most temperature increases over the past 25 years, alberta.ca has a list of emission sources throughout the province and
