Local law fi rm awarded for apprenticeship programme

Top 100 law fi rm Cripps Pemberton Greenish has been named Apprentice Employer of the Year by leading university, BPP, at its annual awards. The BPP Apprentice of the Year

awards recognise talent across a range of industry sectors including law, tax and accountancy, banking, and nursing. Its purpose is to highlight apprentices and employers across the UK that have “gone the extra mile throughout an apprenticeship”. The award recognises the fi rm’s paralegal

apprenticeship scheme, which launched in partnership with BPP Law School in 2018. As part of the scheme, four apprentices were recruited to work with the fi rm’s paralegal team across a broad variety of legal areas, alongside completing the BPP Paralegal Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship qualifi cation.

Gavin Tyler, managing partner, said: “Apprenticeships offer a credible alternative to university and are key in ensuring that talented young people, who have perhaps decided against the traditional university route, have options for further education.” More than 850 employers were invited to take part in the awards, with categories including Apprentice of the Year, Employer of the Year, Apprentice Champion of the Year and Inclusion and Diversity Champion. • Cripps Pemberton Greenish has offi ces in Tunbridge Wells, Kings Hill and London.

New signage for Penshurst Railway Station

Penshurst Railway Station’s signs have been given a bright new look after requests from regular visitors to the station and a tourism recommendation in a recent Visitor Economy report proposed by Sevenoaks District Council. The new signs, which were installed by

Southern Railway, show illustrations of two major landmarks that the station serves, Penshurst Place and Chiddingstone Castle. Local councillors gathered for the unveiling of the signs, and Councillor Lesley Dyball, cabinet member for People and Places, said: “The new signs at Penshurst Station look fantastic and we’re really pleased we could work with Southern Railway to make this happen for residents and visitors. Both Penshurst Place and Chiddingstone Castle are brilliant tourist attractions and we hope these new signs will encourage more people to visit them.”
