BUSINESS REPORT

A CENTURY OF HEALTH SUPPORT

Founded on 3 July 1919, Westfield Health was initially created to support Sheffield’s four hospitals: The Royal, The Royal Infirmary, The Children’s and Jessops Hospital for Women, and it was originally known to most as The Sheffield Hospitals Council. Since then, Westfield Health – which provides the Chamber Primary

Health Plan for Milton Keynes Chamber members - has adapted to change and constantly evolved to meet their customers’ ever-changing needs. From the ‘Penny in the Pound’ scheme devised by Fred Osborn in 1921, to the cutting-edge health and wellbeing solutions that are helping people, communities and workplaces today to be healthier, Westfield Health continues to push boundaries and grow as a company. On 14 October 1965 they established the Sheffield and District Hospital’s

Services Charitable Fund, donating annual funds for the purchase and repair of equipment in local hospitals. Graham Moore, chairman of Westfield Health, is proud to be part of the

organisation’s history. He commented: “We’re delighted to celebrate our 100th birthday, to recognise the contribution our predecessors have made in having a vision of helping more and more people to live healthier and happier lives.”

KEEPING UP WITH DATA PROTECTION

With cybercrime on the rise and strict new data protection rules in force, a local IT specialist is advising small businesses to ‘act now or pay later’, to ensure their systems are up to scratch. Figures show that already this

year 32% of businesses have experienced a breach or cyberattack and it isn’t just the likes of Google and Facebook who are being penalised for failing to protect personal data. A London estate agent was

recently fined £80,000 by the ICO, after leaving the personal data of more than 18,000 customers exposed. Lionel Naidoo, MD of Dragon

Information Systems, said: “Having robust and secure IT systems in place doesn’t only offer protection against cybercrime and aid GDPR compliance, it also makes good business sense. Invest in the right system and it will grow with you, whilst boosting your efficiency and competitiveness.”

Dragon is offering a limited number of free GDPR & cyber essentials audits, for local businesses concerned about these issues. For details, call 0330 363 0055 or email lionel@dragon-is.com

STAYING COMPLIANT WITH UK WASTE REGULATIONS

AllEnvironmental Training & Consultancy Ltd has just celebrated their first year anniversary. The firm is an independent provider of accredited waste training who

delivers to sectors such as construction, energy, manufacturing, nuclear and all public sectors. Sales director Tanya Lazzeri (pictured) said: “We all love to avoid

training of any kind because we think that it’s too expensive, it’s a waste of time or you may think that you don’t need the training. “Within the waste industry UK regulations and guidance are often

changing, so, if you think that your waste manager has enough knowledge about waste but hasn’t been kept up-to-date with any changes you may find yourself or your business non-compliant. This may put you at risk of prosecution or a fine. Depending on the reason recent research suggests that approximately 90% of organisations who break the law are SMEs with 0-50 employees. “The waste that your business

produces is your responsibility from the start of its journey to the end.” AllEnvironmental deliver in-house

‘THE WASTE THAT YOUR BUSINESS PRODUCES IS YOUR

RESPONSIBILITY’

accredited training to all businesses large or small throughout the UK.
