members’ matters by Tim Morris

Communications I also ran through the

AGM The AGM returned two new committee members, both of who

were already familiar to us. Debbie Crawt is a valued member of our Outreach team and Harry Sherrard has presented several talks for us at the Museum, including the recent Moon landings event. We welcome them both to the committee and thank Chris Bass for his valued help in the past as he steps down.

Good news At the AGM, I reported that the membership was showing

signs of a small increase once again. It is interesting to note the Individual level has made steady progress over the years while the other three have fluctuated over the past three years.

BM.tv

communication channels we have with members and hope that you have found most of them. Our main one continues to be the Facebook page, but I know not everyone likes Facebook so we have Twitter and Instagram, as well as pictures appearing on Flickr. The monthly email newsletter is a great source of updated information alongside the website, particularly the events section. Do check them regularly as there are often changes or additions to the programme printed in the Bulletin. We are also excited at the

new-style Brooklands Bulletin and welcome the editor Alisdair Suttie (right) to the Membership team. This is the first Bulletin for which he has had his hand on the tiller as he steers the magazine into a new era.

BM.tv, or Brooklands Members.tv as it is now known, has been regularly filming events at the museum including the talks and shows. I was pleased to help out with interviewing drivers on the Supercar day including several Members and that film is now online on both our YouTube and Vimeo channels. Apologies for the scruffy bloke with the microphone. There is plenty to see on the channels now with around 150 movies available that are all getting worldwide viewings for Brooklands. Don’t forget Andy Lambert’s Brooklands channel as well, which has a great archive of Brooklands events and activities reaching back many years. It is well worth exploring at andyvideos on YouTube. You’ll find monthly lists of the latest videos in our email newsletter, so sit back and wallow in Brooklands in the comfort of your armchair. We are now actively looking for cars or motorbikes to film for our Spinning Wheels series. It is open to any member with an interesting classic. We tend to film at Brooklands on Wednesday mornings, so you would need to be available with your vehicle for a couple of hours and be able to talk about your car and the history of the model. If you would like to feature, please get in touch with Tim in the BT office: timmorris@brooklandsmuseum. com or 01932 857381 ext 226. To find all the BM.tv programmes and links to the channels please go to our website at www.brooklandsmuseum.com/btm/archive/btmtv

40 BROOKLANDS BULLETIN | SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER 2019

New staff member We are pleased to report the

backlog from April to June has now been cleared, which is largely due to our new member of the Admin Team, Sarah Dover. Sarah has been hard at work chipping at the coal face and now the mountain is no more than a few pebbles, so back to normal. It was a difficult period for the Membership office and we do apologise for the delays to new and renewed memberships during that time and thank you for your patience and understanding.
