THE VOICE OF NORTHAMPTONSHIRE BUSINESS VIEWPOINT
SUPPORTING CHARITY AS WELL AS BUSINESS
It is with great pleasure that I can begin this Viewpoint by announcing our new Charity of the Year. We were honoured to receive presentations from a range of fantastic charities from our county and after much deliberation we can reveal that our chosen charity is Age UK Northamptonshire. Our team was incredibly moved by their
presentation on the range of services the charity provides to improve the quality of life for older people in our communities. As Charity of the Year, Age UK Northamptonshire will receive complimentary membership of the Chamber’s Business Alliance Group to enable it to network with the county’s most influential companies and can attend Chamber events for free. We look forward to seeing the charity at our events and to sharing how it is working with members during the year. I am also pleased to say that our Quarterly

4 inbusiness JUNE/JULY 2019
Economic Survey (QES) for Q1 2019 attracted a high level of responses from the business community. Our response rate was up 20% on the previous quarter and the feedback we received came from businesses employing over 101,000 people. I would urge all members to take part in the next QES when it goes live on 20 May. It is your opportunity to influence the key decision makers responsible for local, regional and national economic strategies and policy. Your feedback enables us to give an accurate picture of the state of the county’s economy and empowers us to lobby for the support you need on your behalf. Finally, I would like to thank all the businesses who have entered this year’s Northamptonshire Business Awards. The awards closed a few days ago and it is great to see that we have had submissions from businesses from a variety of sectors from across the county. We will be contacting the shortlisted finalists soon and cannot wait to see their fantastic presentations. From the calibre of entries it is
already apparent that we are in store for another exciting awards ceremony on 5 September.
