PARTNERS AIM TO TAKE CITY FORWARD
Northampton Forward is a new partnership formed between key stakeholders in Northampton – such as Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, local community and business organisations, the University of Northampton, representatives from the cultural and arts sector and Northampton Borough Council – with the aim to boost economic growth in the town.
Northampton Forward
has the vision to drive positive change in the town and capitalise on its assets and rich heritage – such as Northampton’s luxury shoemaking which is recognised as the very best in the world. The first initiative undertaken by the new group was to submit an

Expression of Interest to bid for up to £25m as part of the Government’s £620m Future High Street Fund. Northampton town centre has been affected by the same issues faced by High Streets throughout the country, particularly the rise of online shopping.
Northampton is
focused on the future and moving
forward. This funding will enable
investment to support the ongoing
efforts to grow the
economy, increase tourism and ensure the sustainability of Northampton. This funding, coupled with the opportunities presented by Northampton’s position at the centre of the Oxford to Cambridge Arc, will help to ensure that the town continues to grow and thrive. Northampton Forward is also in
the process of planning further strands of work to develop medium and long term developments for Northampton and will ensure wider stakeholder representation and engagement. Northamptonshire Chamber of
Commerce’s role in Northampton Forward is to represent our members and the wider business community, ensuring that a business voice is heard throughout the process.
