BUSINESS REPORT SYSTEMS THAT AID VEHICLE DESIGN
Curtis Instruments provides sophisticated integrated electric vehicle systems that are packed with features and functions that help make vehicle design easy. Its new dual-microprocessor
1239E AC Motor Controller offers a cost-effective, feature-rich combination of power and torque, smooth performance and expansive functionality – it easily controls synchronous PMAC and Induction motors for pump, traction and on-
engine hybrid applications. The firm’s wide range of CAN I/O modules and motor speed controllers for traction, steering and hydraulic pumps, LCD displays, throttles and sensors means it offers component options for every type of application. Sales office manager Anita Chapman said: “We partner with vehicle engineers to design and develop complete drivetrains for new EV projects, advising on the selection of all system elements, like battery packs, electric motors, speed controllers and gearboxes or transaxles, or simply advise on the
most appropriate Curtis speed controller to suit an existing drivetrain design. “Right from the allocation of
System-I/O, to the design of electrical schematics and CANbus system architecture, our engineers quickly develop the vehicle software needed to fully integrate all CANbus devices on the system, and provide the features, functionality and safety vehicles require. “Curtis will support your engineering team at every step in a vehicle’s development from initial prototype design through to production release.”
Curtis Instruments’ UK office is
located in central Northampton and the firm welcomed visitors from all around Europe to its stand at Bauma, Munich in April.

CHARITY CELEBRATES 125-YEAR MILESTONE
The NSPCC in Northamptonshire is celebrating its 125th birthday this year. To celebrate turning 125, NSPCC Northamptonshire is looking for 125 individuals, groups and businesses to each raise £125 for its schools’ service, ‘Speak out Stay Safe’. This could pay for specially-
trained NSPCC volunteers to teach a class of primary school children about abuse and neglect through age-appropriate assemblies and workshops. Speak Out Stay Safe empowered 23,687 children in Northamptonshire to recognise and report child abuse in 2017/18. The service helps children
identify the trusted adults in their lives and encourages them to speak out if they feel bad about something, while highlighting that Childline is there to help.
Barbara Elsey, community
fundraising manager for Northamptonshire, said: “Sadly in 2019, on average, there are two children in each primary school class who have suffered abuse or neglect. Some don’t know who to turn to for help, and some don’t know what is happening to them is wrong. “Celebrating our birthday with us
will support our work to make the children of Northamptonshire safer than ever before.” 125 Campaign supporters will
receive support for their fundraising plans, be thanked on the NSPCC East of England Facebook page, provided with resources to display in their workspace and receive an official certificate to commend their support.
