Throwback Programs

Dear Residents:

There’s so much fun to be had this summer! With incredible natural resources and beautiful parks readily available, the Batavia Park District is proud to maintain special places where friends and families come together to create lifelong memories. We are honored to play such an important role in the lives of our residents—thank you for allowing us to do so.

Kamp Kaleidoscope has been a fun and creative safe haven for children entering 1st through 5th grade for two decades. This year, there is an exciting venue change where this popular summer camp will be held—Funway Entertainment Center! As a result, there will be even more fun packaged into weekly activities such as bowling, mini golf, and roller skating. In addition, camp counselors have games, crafts, theme days, swimming, and field trips built into every week. What is there not to love about an action-packed, fun-filled summer?

This year’s Windmill City Festival will celebrate the Park District’s 50th Anniversary. New this year will be a talent show (to reflect throwback programming), unique Windmill City Festival t-shirts for sale and a Boo Boo Days sidewalk sale sponsored by our friends at Batavia MainStreet. The beer garden will be adding margaritas to the list of adult beverages available for purchase. Also new, will be a rentable area under the beer garden tent designated for class or family reunions. If you are interested in having a unique festival experience and would like to learn more about reserving a VIP space, please contact Brittany Bruno, Director of Community Recreation, at 630-406-5282 extension 2060 or email her at brittanyb@bataviaparks.org.

In order for us to continue providing fun in the future, the Park Board and staff will be hosting a Listening Tour throughout the community to do a deeper dive into the Community Needs Assessment results. The Listening Tour will be a time for the Park District to listen, gather input, and collect insights from you to help shape our shared spaces. A tour schedule with locations, dates, and times will be available on the Park District’s website and our social media outlets this spring.

See you outside at the parks this summer! All the best,

Allison Niemela, CPRP Executive Director
