Any sort of anniversary can make an important milestone in our personal journey through life. All anniversaries, whatever they may be, provide an opportunity to look back on your journey and be thankful to the people who you have shared it with you. Here is a quote to refl ect on:
“Don’t just count the years, make your years count.” George Meredith.
An anniversary provides a mirror to refl ect on the past, celebrate your achievements and milestones and to look forward to the future. A key question however to ask yourself is: when looking into the mirror can you do it with a clear conscience?
If we are to make the years count then we need to be people who choose to make a positive difference, to look to improve the quality of life of people around us.
When you look back on your journey so far, what will be your legacy to your family, community, friends? Will it be a legacy you can be proud of?
The 14th March 2019 marks the fi ve-year
anniversary of Corfe Mullen Dementia Friendly Community. This is a signifi cant landmark that I want to refl ect on in this month’s Pioneer View.
On the 22nd May, we celebrate the fi rst anniversary of the Growing Compassionate Communities charity.
We continue to seek to grow a compassionate community and deliver a compassionate response to people on the margins of our community – reducing isolation and loneliness and growing hope. In the last fi ve years we have travelled well with a view to making the years count, leaving a legacy that can be built on by future generations.
Let’s all press on with an ambitious vision to grow compassionate communities and make our years count.
