Wassailing at Sheppy’s Cider

Taking place at the Bath & West Showground in Somerset from 29 May to 1 June, the Royal Bath & West Show off ers visitors an array of attractions for the whole family to enjoy. Get stuck in with hands-on demonstrations such as mozzarella making and apple juice making, and let the little ones get up close with pigs and sheep. T e Taunton Deane Morris Men will celebrate the ancient ritual of Wassail at Sheppy’s Cider this month, with food, fi res, hot irons and cider. T ere will be plenty of music and dancing and the event will be in support of St Margaret's Hospice, in Somerset. T e £11.25 admission fee includes a pulled Longhorn beef roll (or vegetarian option) and there will be a bar and tea/coff ee available on the night. For more information, head to

Learn New Skills
Pitney Farm Cafe, in Langport, will be hosting 2 informative classes this month teaching attendees the basics of sourdough and perfecting pastry. Each class will take place inside Pitney Café; a small and relaxed space that provides a laidback- yet-informative atmosphere for learning new skills.
Sourdough Class | 29th January Experienced baker, Fleur Hoyle, will walk
attendees through the sourdough process from ‘starter’ to fi nished loaf using the Blue Peter principle of ‘one I prepared earlier’. Students will
get the chance to practice each stage of the process (adapted to home baking) and make a range of wheat and rye loaves to bring home with them.
Pastry Class | 31st Janurary Designed for beginners, those who attend this class will leave with heaps of new skills easily transferable to the home kitchen. Conquer all of the secrets of laminated pastry, as well as a range of sweet and savoury baked goods to impress your friends and family.
