THE CAREERS JOURNEY OF AN AGFS STUDENT

he Careers Education Programme for an Ark Greenwich Free School student is an integral part of the


preparation of pupils for the opportunities and experiences of adult life. Even before a student joins our family in Year 7, they are exposed to a variety of careers based aspirations which continues throughout their time at AGFS.


Year 7 University Taster Days Matriculation Process Embedding the ’A’ for Ambition element. Russell Group University, Enrichment, Encounter with Employer.


Year 6/Transition/Induction Students are told about the mission of the school (built to improve the life chances for young people in this area); its aspirations for being the best school in London 2020; its aspiration for the students to have the best currency after the 5 years to go onto achieving anything they wish to. Careers Research summer project.

MATHS COMPETITION


his term saw the start of our Inter-House Maths Competition. In the hot seat this term were


our most senior group, Year 11. Students were asked to complete a variety of problem-solving questions in order to engage and stretch their minds. Huge congratulations must go to Dalius Juganaru Cosa who achieved an incredible score of 100% to win maximum points for 11 Sancho.


Do you think you could solve one of the questions from the challenge? The first one to tell Mr Munday the correct answer to the problem will receive a Golden Ticket!

he Year 7 Lexia reading group have been reading some of the headlines and news stories about


Theresa May and her Brexit agreement. Even understanding that a lot of people disagree with her deal, the class as a whole felt she was trying very hard, and sent her a card wishing her good luck and best wishes. A week later, they were delighted to receive a message back.


Here are some of the class, explaining why they wanted to write.


Michael: “I just wanted to say good luck with all the hard work that is happening, and it was a pleasure to get a reply.”


Kian: “I wanted to write to Theresa May to say hello and Merry Christmas. You are working very hard.”


Maia: “Well, we saw her Brexit deal, and I just wanted to say good luck.”
