Greenwich Borough Cross Country Championships

T

he biggest race in the schools cross country calendar presented an opportunity to pit AGFS against

the rest of the best in Greenwich. On a rainy Wednesday afternoon our students demonstrated Ambition, Growth, Fellowship and Scholarship in abundance and were a credit to the school.

In tough conditions they managed to secure some fantastic results. Special mention goes to the Year 9 Girls team for finishing in third place, for the second consecutive year. Also to Kristina Broeren, Mercy Rakickis and Edoardo Bognolo, who all placed within the top 5 in their individual races.

The teams are eager to improve on this next year, and are looking forward to bringing a trophy home in 2019/2020.

A final mention goes to Edoardo Bognolo who has been selected to represent Greenwich at the London Youth Games!

Well done again to all involved.

GREENWICH BOROUGH & LEATHERSELLER EVENTS

GFS took part in the inaugural Leathersellers Year 7 and 8 Cross Country

Competition just before half term. The event was hosted by Colfes School, and run by our own Athletics/Cross Country coach Alex Kashis. For the majority of our Year 7 students this was their first ever cross country competition, and they did us proud! The event showcased the hard work the squads have been putting into their events. A special mention goes to the Year 7 Boys team who finished

in an impressive third place in their debut event and to Edoardo Bognolo who finished second in the Boys Year 8 event. Well done to all team members and our sports leaders who helped run the event.

Top Row L-R: Kristina Broeren, Freddy Steel, Edoardo Bognolo, Taofikq Bello, Teddy Smith, Nicoleta Charchaci, Aaron Adade-Boateng, Reigan Johnson-Hinds.

Bottom Row L-R: Charlie Presnell- Miller, Phyllis Ovenell, Chloe Colley, Elske Nel, Mia Vaughan, Milan Lockhart- Miah.

SUMMER TERM ACTIVITIES: SWIMMING A

GFS are always looking to further existing links in the local

community; this was evident during the inaugural Summer Term activities week. Teaming up with Greenwich Leisure Limited and Charlton Park Lido, Years 7,8, 9 and 10 had a free session of swimming and leisure time.

The weather was outstanding for every group allowing them to fully embrace this wonderful opportunity. Students were put through their paces by the lifeguards before practising their diving and swimming techniques. This was a high point of activities week, and we look forward to running the event again.
