and what they have achieved so far.

Q: Emily and Alexi, you are now undergoing the Level 2 Young Leaders Award, alongside Lauren and Jaynelle. Could you explain more about how this is shaping you as Head Student Leaders?

Alexi: It has taught me that self- leadership is just as important as leading others, without being self- aware, you cannot be a great leader. You must set targets for yourself and be incredibly resilient, your goals may not be achieved immediately - but if you bounce back enough, it will be achieved eventually.

Emily: The Level 2 Young Leaders Awards has helped me as an individual, allowing me a better understanding of how to work best in any situation by knowing my own strengths and weaknesses. However, I am sure it has also helped us as a team as we learnt skills such as persuasion and meaningful communication.

Q: As Head Student Leaders, what have you done so far in the school?

Jaynelle: “As Head Student Leaders, we have all conducted meetings with our teams, as well as making sure they are doing their duties, ot to mention doing our own gate duty, lunch duty and tutor tray duties.”

Lauren: “Organising and participating in events has also been a part of being a Head Student Leader. Jaynelle and myself organised the black history month concert that happened this month which celebrated black culture. It was an amazing night!”

Our Student Leaders have all been working hard throughout this half- term and we have no doubt they will continue to do so throughout the school year.

GFS proudly hosted this year’s prize evening on Wednesday 7th November. Guests arrived to a

beautiful performance by Oliver Kieu. This was followed by Mr Spiers’ opening speech, who introduced the exceptional and driven environment we have at AGFS and the wonderful things students achieve day by day and over time.

Guests were then treated to a piano piece played by a former AGFS student, Giacomo Bognolo and extraordinary student speeches which explored our house heritage and encouraged us about the idea of ambition.

Our Year 7 students beamed as each one matriculated, showcasing their achievement in displaying school values of ambition, growth, fellowship and scholarship. “ I think that prize evening was one of the best days of my life. Everyone was so excited for it and all of the performances were outstanding. The speeches that were given by the Year 11 student leaders were amazing and I can’t wait to have the same opportunity as them. I also really enjoyed the sneak peak of hairspray and can’t wait until February when we get to perform the entire show. I think that prize evening taught us what AGFS is really like, and I can’t wait for next when I can experience the new Year 7s enjoying their matriculation.”

A snippet from our school play Hairspray soon reminded us of the exciting school production we can expect in February.

As a community we then celebrated a variety of different awards including pastoral (form), subject, inclusion and co-curricular awards. We were also delighted to award last year’s cohort with the top 10 progress and attainment awards and witnessed a truly inspiring duet by Kate and Nigella Kabengele.

Last but not least we saw the Connor Pearce Award, our highest school accolade, presented to Callum O’Neil. AGFS would like to reiterate a big well done and congratulations to all prize winners.

The last part of the evening saw the unveiling of the honours board which is engraved with all Year 11 head student leaders to date. The grand unveiling of the hall of fame followed. Students whose names appear here, have scored in the top 3% of the country, performed at national or regional level or have exception performance in another area. Well done to all the students who made the cut for the hall of fame, leaving a legacy to motivate the students present and future at AGFS.

The co-founder of AGFS, Tom Shinner, reminded us of our school core values and to continue using these to achieve and aim higher. The evening ended with a sensational performance by the Year 7 choir who echoed this message and left us motivated to go beyond our limits in everything we do at AGFS.
