PRINT WORKSHOP T
PARENTS & STUDENTS PRINTING CLASS hursday 8th
November saw parents
and student artists from Year 10 and 11 attend an evening art
workshop at AGFS. The idea was to engage them in creating some unique and individual artworks, whilst also learning further information on the structure and demands of the GCSE art course.
The practical task took the form of a monoprinting workshop, where parents and students worked on creating multi- layered monoprints. With many parents not having stepped foot in an art room since their own art lessons, it was great to see how involved and proactive they were in creating fantastic monoprint outcomes.
With all students having practised the technique previously in lessons, students became teachers and kept their fellow parent-students on the right path to monoprinting success!
The second half of the evening saw parents gain further insight and understanding of the demands of the GCSE course, and how they can support their student artists when outside of the AGFS art studio space to further become independent, successful, visual artists.
After the success of this event, the first of its kind in the department, plans are currently being made to hold a similar event in the new year. By then Year 11 student artists will be working on their final independently led exam project, so any budding parent printmakers, watch this space!
