Town remembers the fallen
MORE than 500 people turned out to pay their respects at the Remembrance Day parade in Snodland. The 17th Tonbridge Scout and
Guide Band led the parade from The Holmesdale School down Malling Road to the High Street, up Constitution Hill and along Cemetery Lane to the Cenotaph. They were joined by the Army
cadets, the 1st Snodland Scout Group, 2nd and 3rd Snodland Brownies, the 2nd Snodland Rainbows and Snodland Town and Borough councillors. Wreaths were laid on behalf of
the Lord Lieutenant of Kent by Ann West; MP Tracey Crouch by Sue Bell; the Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling by Brian Luker; the Snodland Partnership by Debbie King and the late chairman of Snodland Town Council, Peter Misy, by his daughter, Cllr Nicola Butterfield. The service was taken by the
Rev Mandy Young, the Rector of Snodland; Father Peter Soper and Eileen Calkin of the Catholic Church and the Rev Sue Brooks,
Associate Rector. The council's chief executive,
Karen Sowten, said the eventwas very well-attended and thanked everybody who turned out and helpedwith the parade, including the road closuremarshals.
