VIAT pupils’ special remembrance effort


THE Valley Invicta Academies’ Trust (VIAT) commemorated Re- membrance Day with a variety of poignant events across all of its eight schools. The primary school at Aylesford


created a poppy wall with flowers made by pupils, families and members of the community. At the primary school at Hol-


borough Lakes, Snodland, chil- dren and parents attended a remembrance service. The primary school at KingsHill


displayed poppies created by the children. The school took part in a project about missing soldiers which involved asking members of the community for their stories aboutWW1. At the primary school at Ley-


bourne Chase, years four, five and six attended a service at Ley- bourne Memorial. At East Bor- ough primary


school a


remembrance assemblywas held with Yeoman Sergeant Jim Dun- can, and an outdoor poppy wall


showcased hundreds of poppies painted by the children. At Invicta Grammar School,


year 11 student Hannah Clifton, played the trumpet during a two- minute silence. The sale of crocheted poppies


raised £113 and other poppies, badges and wrist bands have been sold through the Royal British Legion. Valley Park School held an


evening remembrance service and studentsmade ceramic pop- pies to display in the school. Lenham School students cre-


ated a display board of war poems which was placed in St Mary's Church. Julie Derrick, joint chief execu-


tive of VIAT, said: “We are very proud to have held somanywon- derful events in all our schools to mark this very special day.”


Co-op crossing KENT County Councillor for Snodland, Sarah Hohler, told the town council of complaints by pedestrians trying to cross the Holborough Road to the Co-Op. She has asked the county’s


safety officers to visit the site. She said: “The lack of a bus


shelter near the Co-Op has also been raised. There are options such as sponsorship."


Manager leaves SNODLAND Town FC has parted company with its first team man- ager, Gavin Gillies. He was with the club for three


years and finished in sixth place last season, but this season the club is bottomof the table. Club chairman Dave Jeal said:


“Following a poor start to the sea- son, the club felt it was the right time tomake the change.”


Cash donations CHEQUES have been paid out to community causes chosen by Co-Op customers in Snodland. They were Leybourne Grange


Riding Centre (£8,148), Cuxton and Halling Churches (£7,720) andDittonYouthClub(£7,493.18).
